Alex Jones Just Cost Himself Everything

Last month, Jones was granted permission to sell his ranch, which is valued at $2.8 million, one large chunk of his approximate total $9 million in assets.

A unique detail of Jones’s case is that he can’t skirt payments by declaring bankruptcy. The judge who presided over Jones’s bankruptcy filing last year made his debt “non-dischargeable” through bankruptcy, meaning he has to continue paying the families until he has fully settled the $1.5 billion debt.

As a result, Jones will likely be “basically broke now for the rest of his life,” Harry Litman, a former U.S. attorney, told MSNBC at the time.

... if he has a plan up his sleeve. Have a very rich right wing nut (or organization), buy INFOWARS. They hire Jones for a nominal salary. They provide company owned housing and a company car. He lives off of in-kind "gifts."

Wonder what the courts would think of that?

All they can attach is salary.

They can't touch company benefits like cars, travel, lodging, food, etc. Those are company expenses. Same for anything they put into a retirement plan or trust for him.

He can live quite well indeed on the expense account of a company bringing in $500m a year solely on his image and personality.

The court can get upset, but can't really do much without proof of a conspiracy.

Jmho of course.

They can place a levy on a bank account and a lien on his homestead which they will get when he sells or passes away. They can lay claim to any investment income he receives. This judgement will only last up to twenty years, so if he lives to 69 he will be free and clear.

No way is he going to be broke. He'll just never own assets again. But he'll have a freined with a nice home he "let's Jones stay at for free." And he'll have "freinds' vacation homes" he also gets to use. And he'll hav very generous "friends" who loan him their luxury cars and let him use their airplane tickets to travel for "free."

I know of situations where people tried that and it gets old to the "friends" real fast. These deals never last because what's in it for the "friend?"

To make something like this work, you have to provide "in kind" to the "friend" so that he/she gets something out of it. Nobody helps somebody live a luxury lifestyle for nothing. The very least is Jones pays double for his luxury lifestyle: one for the friend, one for himself.

Propaganda meisters seem to be in demand by GOP hopefuls, and the very fat cats who employ, err, support them.

He will likely have many generous friends who will benefit from his obnoxious skill set and give him lots of comfy lifestyle perks in lieu of payment that can be taken by the courts to pay his debts to those parents.

And I would now edit it to say "if he could find a 'friend.'" I put it in quotes because people/sociopaths like trump and Alex Jones burn through people like wildfire.

No, he won't be living a luxury life because he is now swimming with his fellow sharks who don't know how to give, just like he doesn't know how to give.

As far as your last paragraph, I don't think so. This is a business (republicanism/marketing). It would be like Burger King helping McDonald's sell burgers. With no ideals, they are only in this for the money and for changing attitudes to make it easier for them to make money. To cut back on laws and penalties that prevent them from making money.

Daddy gets a cut of everything as an investor. Alex didn't have any money so daddy provided everything, but got a good ROI. Daddy also created the Vitamin and "ED cures" supplements companies and got a cut of everything. The good news for daddy is that Alex Jones creditors can't touch him because of the corporate wall.

Of course, Alex Jones will have to live like a pauper for the rest of his life.

I hope he has an aneurysm, but only AFTER he pays those poor people off, if he ever does.
As vile an excuse for a human being as he is, he didn't get that rich in a vacuum. Equally vile people watched him, listened to him, and sent him money. LOTS of money. And they're still out there. We'll never be completely rid of them, but you can bet they'll lie low for a while after seeing Jones financially drawn and quartered.

I just hope that's true and that he doesn't have money stashed away somewhere, as some have suggested.

Reading the article, I was struck by this:

“All we’re trying to do is save America, and they’re fucking us over, over and over again,” he sobbed in an “emergency broadcast” on Saturday. “And it’s just so sick—it’s sick, it’s sick. I want to leave—because it’s going to be over, folks.”

Sick? I guess you'd know, wouldn't you?. After all, you wrote the book on "sick."

Like the way you claimed the Sandy Hook massacre was a "false flag" and dragged those parents' names through the mud "over and over again." Now THAT was sick.

Yeah, you're the poster kid for "sick," all right. Enjoy what's left of your assets while you still can, you sick fuck. They'll be gone soon enough, so "gather ye rosebuds while ye may."

I hope you never have 2 nickels to rub together for the rest of your miserable life. I also hope you never know what a good night's sleep is again. May all of your dreams be filled with the ghosts of murdered children shrieking and berating you for torturing their bereaved parents, until you wake up in a cold sweat, "over and over again." Every. Single. Night.

When I was briefly working in radio for the last time around 2002 was when I first came across him. He was pretty much broke at the time and his sponsors were negligible. I don't think he made all that money by selling cheap videos either. I suspect the fascist billionaires subsidized him after Obama was elected. He is no longer useful to them and is just to tainted and exposed.

If he's really worth $9 million how will he pay the restitution of $1.5 billion for the Sandy Hook families? Jones never made that much dough from advertisers on his podcast. He was getting handouts from RW one-per-centers, and now that's dried up to a trickle.

33. After spending a decade or so
Fri Jun 7, 2024, 05:11 PM

chasing professional debtors, I have learned a few things.

The biggest is that they put as much of their assets in things that are exempt from execution.

Things like homestead exemptions in FL:

In a city or incorporated area, there is no cap on property value on primary residences of state residents as long as the footprint is no more than (I think) 1/2 acre; in unincorporated areas the footprint can be no more than 150(?) acres. Other than property taxes and mortgages used to purchase the property and a few other things, they are 100% absolutely untouchable and cannot be forced into a sale.

That is just one example, there are plenty of others.

Other dodges are:

Using gift cards that magically get refilled each month but never from the same place twice. Ditto for credit cards: pay for things but the bills are not in your name but a shell corporation whose bills are paid in full each month by other shell companies pulling monies from other shell corporations who access funds from overseas and they bounce around so that you can't get a lock on exactly where and from whom the money comes from.

All of this is set up using blind trusts thru intermediaries who have no direct link back to the debtor so the debtor can honestly answer on the asset subpoena that they have no money (because they don't). It was in this line of work I learned the adage:

There are things you know and there things you can prove. They aren't always the same thing.

The people who do this are experts at tying and retying gordian knots. If they get caught it's when they make a mistake or someone throws them under the bus.

We all like to think that governments and investigators are great (and some are) but the pros have people who are just as good, if not better and this is all that they do.

He obviously has money stashed away in Cyprus, Cayman Islands, etc. And there are a number of countries where you can "buy" citizenship. So he can set up shop, call his new site Info Wars Plus or something and he's back. Just upset he's going to lose "most" of his prized assets here in the USA and keep only a minimum. Hell, he'll probably spin it how he was "robbed" for practicing free speech. He may be gone for awhile, but not for long.

Of course some will hem and haw about money laundering, hiding assets, etc. Most don't realize its easy to do, if you know how to do so. I should know, at my previous employer I was put in charge of a project to update our anti-money laundering operations. Did that, but its by no means full proof. The irony, if I needed to launder money or hide assets, I easily can.....I just don't have any money to do that....LOL!
