i'll admit that a case can be made that by Christian standards I am immoral

but really, I am going to listen to the likes of Newt Gingrich on this? He left two ill wives and his children had to beg at the local church for food since he wouldn't pay child support. People who choose to vote for Gingrich have literally no right whatsoever to tell me, or anyone else, that I am too immoral to marry. No one made Newt have as the centerpiece of his campaign the immorality of same sex marriage. No one forced him to say that same sex marriage would end civilization. He did this on his own. Once he did this, his personal life is our business. The fact he wanted an open marriage is our business. The fact he deserted his wives is our business. If my marriage is his business, his marriage is mine. It doesn't get simpler than that.

Nootie is a gift that keeps on giving - reasons why nobody should vote for him, or take him seriously.

Caught most of it with repeated wtf? pauses. What a poor case for politics as it is in the country today.

I usually take their crap with the proverbial grain of salt, but tonight's show was something else.

There was a pretty clear separation of church/govt in the NT, which for some reason many modern people of faith seem to not like....

The bible starts with incest and goes "up" from there. (Three guys and one gal, where did human #5 come from?).
Even if you "advance" through time to Noah, there must have been some incest after that little temper tantrum.

KKKristian "standards" are something we can all emulate with absolute impunity.

"But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you." Genesis 6:18

"And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood." Genesis 7

People lived a long time then, and had the ability to have many, many children over the course of centuries. "Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth." Genesis seven:six

The next generation would have been cousins to each other, but that wasn't considered incest in most societies until very recent modern history. Furthermore, the laws against incest had not been promulgated by God at the time of the flood, or at the the time of Adam and Eve.

a gay man or woman is immoral. I think the biblical passages are more complicated than that and are discussing other sexual activity. I do think the bible is pretty clear about marriage and divorce and I don't quite understand that so many folks who say they follow the bible literally are OK with divorce. I think the bible contradicts itself on many questions so I don't quite get the evangelical stridency on many issues but that's another topic.

Everybody is immoral, that's the point, use a fear of going to Hell as a way to herd people into being docile sheep who are easily manipulated and exploitable.

"Gingrinch" is a pathological liar, like all repukes there are only "the liars and the gullible". The fact that our media props up these psychopaths as legitimate in any way, shape or form is nothing that any sane person should pay attention to.
