LBJ's daughters call Biden 'patriot without peer' for dropping outThe last time an incumbent president announced he wouldnt run for reelection was Texas Lyndon Baines Johnson. Many are now looking to his decision 56 years ago for comparison.
Two who are intimately familiar with the fateful decision in 1968 are LBJs daughters, Luci Baines Johnson and Lynda Johnson Robb.
President Biden, you are a patriot without peer, wrote the pair in a release to media on Sunday afternoon. Once more you have given all a person can for our country. As the daughters of another president who gave his all for America, we are so proud of you again as we have always been, the pair wrote.

Btw what a classy note.

I remember that one. And I remember Mayor Daley.

(9 posts)The link shows a quick video of Lucy and her toddler at Astroworld in June 1968. I'm the incredibly handsome young man wearing the green hat, orange socks, and green shorts helping her into the ride. I hope this year goes better for our nominee than it did for HH in 1968.

(577 posts)OM goodness, dsvajda, thank you for sharing that awesome video of Lucy and her toddler at Astroworld. (Love your matching hat and suspenders!)
Wish I had a video of back in the day, when I was honored to give testimony alongside Lynda Byrd Johnson during her tenure as chair of President Carters Advisory Committee for Women. My testimony focus was on The Rights of Nurses.
On a personal level, I had lunch with Lynda and Senator Betty Castor. Lynda was elegant then, and continues to be one of my heroes. So glad the sisters are on board with Kamala.
Thanks again for posting your video.
Go Kamala! We can do this!!
