The Hill: Harris says she'll be at the debate

I love this.

Campaign communications director Michael Tyler said...that Harris will be at ABC’s Sept. 10 debate — to which Trump and President Biden had both previously agreed — regardless of the former president’s attendance.

“As Vice President Harris said last week, the American people deserve to hear from the two candidates running for the highest office in the land and she will do that at September’s ABC debate,” Tyler said. “If Donald Trump and his team are saying anything other than ‘we’ll see you there,’ — and it appears that they are — it’s a convenient, but expected backtrack from Team Trump. Vice President Harris will be there on September 10th — we’ll see if Trump shows.”

if he makes any more excuses to avoid getting on stage with her.

He'll call his failure a victory, his cowardice courage, and his fear will be monetized and sold to every adult who yearned to have a Pet Rock as a child, but were afraid of taking on the commitment.

and director and producer of movies. His whole schtick is drama. I do not see comparing such a (while accomplished) superficial performance with Vice President Kamala Harris answering policy questions that impact the people of America. Maybe it is just me.

The empty chair just looked, well, weird. It was just a chair.

Not really the same as a debate where Trump agreed to show up and then reneged. Everyone will know that Trump was supposed to be behind the empty podium.

He will pretend he might be there but he has no intent to do so. He'll pretend he was just yanking the Democrat's and "Liberal Media's" chains. His base will wallow in it with glee.

The debate organizers will have to plan to accommodate him so I believe a second podium is likely.

These things are not debates. The format doesn't allow time for anything with complexity. Besides you can't debate a shit throwing monkey. But our opinions are meaningless.

her messages out without him making a scene and lying about everything.

She might have prepped to handle the gish gallop, but she doesn't need to do it. She holds the high ground. Trump/Vance both pulled out from the debates. She's just being jerked around by the Orange Hellbeast (c. S.B.). I'd move on and go to a swing state that needs talking to. Donald shouldn't be allowed to repeat his performance trying to make her look weak. She has nothing to prove. He won't be there to debate.

His cowardice has already been shown. He's afraid of strong women. He can only beat up weak women. Kamala is strong, doesn't have Covid, and can wipe the floor with him. It is a waste of her time.

I get it that this would be an opportunity for air time. Make a speech in a swing state. Still get on air.

It's true, though, that afterward, Trump would criticize and distort everything she says, without Harris having the benefit of responding directly to him that she would have in a debate. So, I don't know if showing up would benefit Harris, but it's her call to make.

This will be the best opportunity to draw from the ranks of those who are rational and undecided. I believe Trump will play some BS game by pretending he may show. The impending spectacle will draw some eyes that will stay.

What they will see is a RATIONAL, strong, intelligent, energetic candidate from a responsible and serious political party that is ready from day one to start doing work for all the people.

Also, Candidate Harris may handle this better than some may expect.

Nothing to gain, and everything to lose. Trump is going to stop at nothing to smear Harris, and the damage it does to her will NOT play well in the swing states.

A lot of people here and in other places are really naive as to what the GOP is capable of. The best Harris can do is not debate Trump and basically sit back while Trump and Vance self-destruct. There is no point trying to give the GOP ticket a second wind.

I am completely and totally against Harris debating Trump.
