Do you pronounce "Walz" like there's an invisible T in his name, or is it spelled phonetically?
That is, should I say "Waltz" or "Walls" when I say Walz?

(56,728 posts)Since its German name, and the z is pronounced like a ts in German, if he is elected VP, he had better get used to about 100 million Europeans pronouncing his name as if there were a t in there.

(2,467 posts)...with the Northern Plains accent heard so frequently in MN and ND. The accent was made famous, of course, in the movie Fargo. However, you will also find a bit of it in Canada--particularly around Toronto--along with the usual Canadian pronunciations of words like "house" and "boat".
