He asked me what I thought of the VP pick. I told him how overjoyed I am with Walz. He then started to tell me how upset he is with his own party. That the things they want to do are "NUTS". He said that a couple of times. He then said, "I'm voting for Harris-Walz!" Furthermore, he gets it.

It now has a Sharpie addition to the elephant:

(15,223 posts)I'm retired from Inland Northwest Blood Center. I was a driver there for years.
I'm up to about 620 platelet units. I'm not sure I can do it anymore. The last two try's failed. I'll go back to donating red cells if that happens again. The ol' veins don't take the back pressure of the return like they used to.

(225 posts)I was donating platelets today also. I go every 4 weeks .I know I can go practically every week but thats too much for me. I have been donating blood, plasma, and now platelets since 1986. Everyone asks me why I do it and I reply because I can. We are moving in Dec. and I will continue to go to the Red Cross where I initially started donating. I will continue until I cant anymore. As for the Harris/Walz attire I am not sure I would be brave enough to wear it at the center. Im in red Central FL and they are jerks here.

(19,520 posts)that the German commander sent the message twice, because he thought the American commander didn't understand it (or vice-versa).
See, we understand the word "nuts" to mean "that's crazy," but there's no direct German equivalent. It's as though an American commander demanded surrender and the German commander responded, "Sie haben doch einen Vogel." ("You really have a bird." )
The German commander probably had to consult a translator that was very proficient in American idioms.
...If the Germans didn't already have a bird, the Americans were happy to give him one!

THANK YOU for Donating blood and platelets. I am a ten gallon donor myself.
This statistic used to be true: About three percent of eligible donors supply 100 percent of blood needs.
If EVERY eligible donor gave blood EVERY TIME they were asked, you would only be called three times in your life.

(151,489 posts)My last 10 years as a working RN, I worked for the ARC in a Center where we took care of our platelet donors! It was a great job.
And every now and then, if the schedule was light, I would fill in and donate too. It felt a little odd, having my co-workers take care of me, but they were great and we got along well. I donated over 100 units during that time. I was grateful that I could do it.
