General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThis is a 2nd great week in a row. But hang on...
Things will get ugly soon enough, probably right after the convention. Rumors, lies, smear campaigns will start up them. The wing nuts have been flailing about for a coherent line of personal attack. It's been kind of fun to watch, like those videos of gorillas trying to figure out a mirror in the forest and getting angry. But eventually they will land on something that divides people, something that effectively distracts us from the real issues.
We will be dealing with a cornered, rabid creature. Being down in the "fake" polls will turn some of them violent. Trump's increasingly hysterical language will trigger others. There will be blood.
There will be stepped up efforts at voter suppression, voter intimidation, and harassment of poll workers--some of it from Republican officials which been elected to oversee the "fair" election process.
This so far may be the kookiest election in my life time, but it's also like to be the most violent too.

(75,673 posts)You are correct, of course. A cornered rat fights back. The fight isn't over yet. The maga cult will lie. The media will "report" bullshit. Then we will crush the rat in November.
I'm too eager to see where the polls are, but it always take 10-14 days for new events to impact the polling. Things have been happening so fast, it's hard to know when we can breathe and test the waters
moved into strong position where it is most important. But usually campaigns have ebbs & flows, though it is possible the rat will start biting his own campaign.

(8,696 posts)There was 100% agreement on this point on the MSM in late 2022. I saw this as a clear contrarian signal and went all-in on stocks. It's worked out pretty well so far, but it has been a tough month.

(55,334 posts)The Fed has been pushing for this for 3 years. It's not all their fault tho. The economy needs to cycle down some times. I just hope it doesn't show until after November.
