NBC: RFK Jr. plans speech on 'path forward' as his campaign weighs backing Trump

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to make a campaign speech addressing "his path forward" on Friday, days after his running mate said the campaign faced a choice about staying in the 2024 election or dropping out to back Donald Trump.

Kennedy's campaign announced he will hold the event in Phoenix on Friday. Trump, meanwhile, is also set to host an event on Friday night, in Glendale, a Phoenix suburb.

I think they may just stay home or, as others have suggested, vote Libertarian.

Whatever. Too few care. Supporting Trump might even cost Trump more votes (just not voting if Kennedy thinks Trump is a good idea) than it brings in.

1) The "we need someone new" group when the race was two old guys (which it isn't now)
2) The whack-job fringe.

I think Trump gets some of group 2, but as many will likely not bother to vote.

Trump is not going to get 100% of RFK’s voters. A big portion will probably be disillusioned and either not vote, vote for some other third party like libertarian, or maybe come to their senses and vote for Kamala.

The people voting for him don't want to vote for Trump. They will either vote libertarian, stay home, or vote for themselves.

The question is how much.

I'll do my own research project...

We've got a home in my neighborhood with an RFK Jr sign in the yard...

Does it disappear on Saturday?? Or turn into a Trump or Harris sign??

Trump can offer potential goodies like Cabinet or similar jobs...

But it's Musk and his ilk that can really enrich Jr.

Musk can literally hire Jr. as a Consultant to the Health Care benefits for SpaceX and Tesla and X...

Money be changing hands, my friends.

that would be a valid point. It's not here. Robert is not in need of money. It is likely that he has been promised a position in the administration if the felon wins.

To what extent? That's debatable.

But look at Pennsylvania.

When it's just Trump vs Harris, Trump holds a .2% lead on average. When Kennedy is added, Harris actually leads Trump by an average of 2 points.

support among republicans and Joe Rogan independents than Democrats. At this point, it appears it will help the felon. Yet this is speculation, as no one knows how many of those people will vote.

I think earlier in the year, when he was pulling in 10+-percent support nationally, he was hurting the Democrats (based on his name) but as he became more known, that number dipped and dipped and all those Democrats who supported him have pretty much already come around to Harris. The rest? They were conspiracy-theorist weirdos who are more than likely voting Trump.

I knew a number of Democrats who supported him when he first announced. Though I was supporting President Biden, I talked with friends who asked why I wasn't backing an old friend who had assisted me on Native American and environmental issues -- as well as supporting my family when a nephew was assaulted by a racist hate gang ? My answer was simply that he had no chance of winning and that it was essential that Biden did.

I'm only aware of one Democrat who was supporting Robert after he left our party. I'll likely speak with him by the weekend. I'm fully confident that he will vote correctly now.

There are a few old friends from high school that are republicans today. About half of them said they would not vote for the felon in November. About half said they's vote for Robert, the other half said they will not vote this year.

By way of my children, I know some Joe Roganite independents who were backing Robert. I have no idea what they will do now.

When you see polls, who does better when Kennedy is included? Trump does. Regularly Harris will be up 3 or 4 head to head but when Kennedy is added it goes to 2 or 3.

Kennedy’s endorsement will mean nothing, anyone going for him was a protest vote. Two way race favors Kamala. At worst it has no effect.
