A couple days ago we had a thread about a Colorado Springs apartment manager who asked his tenants to volunteer that they voted Democratic so he'd know whose rent to raise first. Apparently all the new Obama regulations are forcing him to cut hours, etc. And we see a lot of this from the Right--all the new Obama regulations are raising the costs for small business.
Besides Obamacare, which is going to REDUCE costs for small business if they have to participate at all, does anyone know what these new regulations are?

If it isn't bullshit, they should be able to very easily cite specific examples of their doubious claims.

(53,031 posts)Most regulations are local. These right wingers are poorly informed and attribute all hassles in life to the President.
The only new regulations of widespread effect have to do with Obamacare and the personal mandate that goes into effect in 2014. He has issued nothing to effect an apt building. That is absurd.

(2,770 posts)but I understand the new Obama regulations will involve everyone being forced to turn gay, free abortions (pregnancy not required), and all guns being confiscated.

(50,553 posts)They know the new regulations are overdue, and they know public opinion of bankers is right up there with the public opinion of Congress. Foreclosing on grandma when her house is paid off will do that to an industry.
The people who seem to be screaming the worst are guys who own create-your-own-job businesses - the millions of small businessmen who neither have nor intend to acquire any employees outside the family. They'd have to go out and hire fifty people they don't need to get Obamacare to apply to them, but they're whining about how Obamacare is just going to kill their businesses and cause them to lay people off and raise prices. I'm still waiting for a detailed procedure of how to lay yourself off when you're the only one who works there without just closing the doors.
