Former Republican Tarrant County judge endorses Allred, slams Cruz at Fort Worth rallyA Republican former Tarrant County judge said he will support U.S. Rep. Colin Allreds campaign for Senate.
Glen Whitley, who served as the Tarrant County judge from 2007 to 2022, made the announcement Oct. 5 during a campaign event for Allred in downtown Fort Worth.
In explaining his decision, Whitley cited Republican Sen. Ted Cruzs loyalty to former President Donald Trump, as well as what Whitley called a total lack of character in Cruz.
That lack of character, Whitley said, was evidenced through Cruzs actions during the Jan. 6 riot in the U.S. Capitol and Cruzs trip to Cancun during the 2021 winter storm.
Among other factors Whitley noted as reasons for his endorsement was Allreds bipartisan work on immigration and legislation concerning the use of burn pits by the U.S. military.
Whitleys endorsement marks the second time he has supported a Democrat for statewide office.

(17,269 posts)3. Newsflash: Tarrant County is full of republican judges
It was an equal number of both parties running against each other for our courts. However, it seemed as though democrats stopped running and republicans ran unopposed. I never cast a vote for them
Nonetheless, this is important that judge Whitley has made public his decision and hopefully that will help to put an end to Ted Cruz!
