Interesting encounter in rural Alabama

I am in Monroeville Alabama, the place that is the real world location of to kill a mockingbird.

Was getting breakfast at Hardee's when a white dude who must have been in his seventies asked me who I thought would win the election out of the blue.

I told him I think it will be Harris. The Dobbs decision has made many women angry. Saying that they want to go after gay marriage is hurting the Republicans with young people. Everyone has a gay friend or relative who us married now and young people are not going back.

He nodded and said "I think you are right."

Drive around town to see the locations that were copied in the movie. Not a single sign for TFG anywhere. Only a couple of Harris signs but in rural economically depressed Alabama, the complete lack of the felons signs or even vehicles with MAGA on them was very encouraging.

Been all over the south for work since The beginning of the summer. Not seeing a lot of open support for the felon.

Never seen a group of people who constantly shoot themselves in the foot.

That's not normal human behavior.

It's all rooted in hatred and racism.

Down visiting family a week ago. Not one sign, not one sticker.
There were plenty to see in the past few years, but not this time.
I was pleasantly surprised.

I see more Harris signs in my daily travels than I do of the convicted criminal's.

My house is one of the few on the street that doesn't have a dumpster sign or flag, and several neighbors who didn't have dump paraphernalia four years ago have it now.

The stupid runs deep.

Over the place in Bucks County PA and Hunterdon County NJ.

But - these are people who drive Porches and live in McMansions.

I too live in Monroeville. The homes that had Trump signs 4 years ago aren't displaying them this year. Of course I haven't taken a full inventory, but it seems the Trumpsters are keeping a lower profile this year.

This may explain the general lack of signs. It may also mean that TFG has a high level of support but there's no merchandise available locally to parade around with. Sad.
