Didn't think about it until just now.
No wonder the pressure's mounting on Dubya to denounce this slob.
My guess is he won't, because he knows he WAS the sperm that hit that egg.

(2,584 posts)though dumbya has to absolutely LOVE the fact that donnie came along - but for donnie, dumbya would be the 'leader' on the list of worst presidents of the USA

(1,755 posts)Only optimistic speculation here, but I'm going "glass half-full" on this one. Just like everyone, people in elite circles have their own codes to telegraph subliminal meaning, often avoiding outright proclamations or declarations.
That said, the cowardice of employing code language at such a precipitous moment in our country's history is altogether another matter.
To reiterate, this is pure speculation about W's intentions; hiding behind code language of a surrogate is probably consistent with character.

(28,835 posts)I, frankly, don't understand why this is so important to some people, to the point of obsession. The number of threads and posts about it is pretty impressive.
W has been openly critical of Trump on multiple occasions in the past few years. I, personally, find that much more meaningful than whether or not he endorses Harris. He clearly hates Trump and has made that clear.
Would it be nice if he'd repeat those sentiments now? Sure, but I find it weird that we proclaim that he's been irrelevant since leaving office, while we simultaneously insist that his endorsement would move mountains.
It can't be both, and in the end, irrelevant is more likely. Who exactly is he going to sway that the hundreds of Republicans who have come out in support of Harris didn't sway? The rest of the GOP has moved on.

(9,798 posts)"W" cannot undo the damage he wrought during his time in office, but he certainly has the ability to make some amends. The tone of his presidency was another step up to the downhill escallator of Donald Trump. If Trump somehow pulls this off, Bush the silent will go down as a de-facto enabler. His father, warts and all, had the guts and fortitude to show support and cast his vote for Hillary in 2016. And his oldest daughter has seen the light. Every high-profile Republican show of support for Kamala will benefit her campaigtn and encourage others to vote for country over party. If Bush actually cared about his legacy, he would put his country above any partisan considerations.

(18,960 posts)...there are people out there who have said (sorry, too lazy at the moment to hunt down links) that the "clock is ticking and this is GWB's last opportunity to rehabilitate his image."
I don't know who the intended audience is for that, but unless he has a time machine and can go back to the moment he decided to send us into Iraq on fake "intelligence," it won't be happening.
But that's what it's all about. It's not a matter of thinking a Harris endorsement would "matter."
It's for the people who think "George W Bush" and have an exclusive image of him, bullhorn in hand, standing in the rubble of 9/11.
