With less than a week to go, how do you feel?

Confident?
Excited?
Frightened?
Depressed?
Angry?
Anxious?
Serene?

As for me - I've seen the hanging chads and Gore V. Bush, so I'm working under the assumption we won't actually know who the next president will be or which party controls Congress until December.

I think Total Wine/ Wall to Wall Wine will be the real winners.

That said ...

I think a lot of people resented the assumption that HRC would become President. So they went a different way with their vote. All of them should ask themselves honestly "How did that work out?"

I believe that we will win and that it will not be as close as we might think. I donated again today to Senate candidates since this will be my last donations before the election on Tuesday. We voted yesterday, along with our Gen Z granddaughters. Our state is reliably blue, and with our awesome candidate running against an old unhinged unintelligible orange man, I have to believe that the majority of citizens will make the only sane choice. Looking forward to a long night next Tuesday.

He and his ilk have offended nearly every segment of society in the United States (with the exception of aggrieved white men). So, it is hard to imagine how they expect to prevail in the vote count on November 5, 2024. It is also hard to imagine that his cult followers will risk their personal freedom and safety in the election aftermath to save this snake oil salesman.

I'm nervous, but cautiously optimistic. I think that we're going to get a few good surprises in the Senate race and will hold the Senate. (Loss of WV, but pickup in either TX or FL). I think we'll win the House, too. I think that people are just tired of the Crazy Caucus. I think we'll see a few of the Free-Dumb Caucus go.

A part of me is still wondering which country my husband and I should flee to if the worst happens.

My grandparents on my father's side were refugees from the breakup of the A-H Empire, Germans from what's now western Romania. I was just reading about this on an e-mail list. Emigration requirements are pretty strict for Germany and Austria. On my mother's side, my great-grandparents were Croatian, but probably too far distant for citizenship. Because so many non-Croatians are buying property there, they've tightened up on the rules for owning land. My GF's father had land somewhere, but we don't know where it is. It's probably the local landfill now.

Angry because I truly lay this predicament at the feet of Garland and his DOJ.

Scared because I really can't do another trump term. I have uncontrolled stress and blood pressure issues. But even setting that aside, companies are already submitting to a potential new fascist reality. It's really scary. Would it even be safe to post on du on January 21 if trump wins? If it's a fair election I believe VP Harris will win, but I do not trust the 6 on the SC not to make up a technicality to steal it for Donny.

They may have done the right thing in 2020. This is 2024, however, and they have granted Trump immunity, and in recent days have decided on a purely partisan basis to declare illegal voter suppression by Republicans legal.

I am pissed because this race shouldn't even be close, and too many people downplay the danger and chaos he will cause, and don't think anyone should fight back even if he starts having people executed. Our elders fought facists in WWII in other countries, yet the current living generations won't even fight against them taking over here?

I watch and record all of the polls, especially in Pennsylvania so in the last week I suddenly was thinking that Trump was going to win. He was slightly ahead in most of the battleground states. Today, Harris is doing a better (she’s ahead by a few points in Penn and Mich) so I am thinking that things are heading her way. Maybe the rally he had helped. Also, hopefully this thing with his threats towards Liz Cheney will have an additional effect.

I like the momentum in swing state polls. I like the outrageously stupid things that Trump keeps doing and saying that push the sliver of undecided voters toward Harris.

I'm doing what I can to help out. Voter hotline tomorrow and Sunday. Boiler room for 20% of Ohio from 5:30 AM - 10:00-ish on election day. I'll probably also volunteer to chase provisional ballots after the election, if either the Harris/Walz margin in Ohio or the Sherrod Brown margin is smaller than the uncured provisional ballots.
