Newt Gingrich's three marriages mean he might make a strong president -- really

Former Speaker of the House and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was attacked Thursday in an interview on ABC News by his second wife Marianne. She accused him of beginning an affair with his current wife Callista while Marianne and he were still married (which Mr. Gingrich admits). She also accused him of lobbying her for an open marriage that would allow him to continue seeing Callista without getting divorced (a claim Gingrich denies).
...

First, one note on what Mr. Gingrich’s married life, including his history of infidelity does not mean: It does not mean that Mr. Gingrich would be unfaithful to the United States of America or the Constitution of the United States.

...

I want to be coldly analytical, not moralize, here. I want to tell you what Mr. Gingrich’s behavior could mean for the country, not for the future of his current marriage. So, here’s what one interested in making America stronger can reasonably conclude—psychologically—from Mr. Gingrich’s behavior during his three marriages:

1) Three women have met Mr. Gingrich and been so moved by his emotional energy and intellect that they decided they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with him.

2) Two of these women felt this way even though Mr. Gingrich was already married.

can you tell me how people can fool themselves into voting against their own interests? It was jut shown on CNN that 19% of the SC population are on food stamps. Yet they would vote for a person who ridicules people on food stamps and a party that threatens to cut back, if not cut out, the food stamp program.

Any hint of sexual impropriety involving Democrats is cause for immediate outrage and demands for resignation. Ask Anthony Weiner or Elliot Spitzer.

Marriage is a sanctity, after all. One man, and one wife at a time for Newtie makes God happy.

4) Two women—Mr. Gingrich’s first two wives—have sat down with him while he delivered to them incredibly painful truths: that he no longer loved them as he did before, that he had fallen in love with other women and that he needed to follow his heart, despite the great price he would pay financially and the risk he would be taking with his reputation.

My eyes are tearing up. Newt is almost like a war hero.

Got to love the part where he salutes the gold digger and attacks the ex.

13. Magic Johnson/Kobe Bryant

First, that is just about the supidest thing that guy could have said. Second it shows the extreme level of hypocrisy on the Republican side. Third, and finally, according to that logic I guess Magic Johnson would be a great president. After all Johnson was able to get many more women then Gingrich to sleep with him. Yes, I know he did not marry all of those women, but just about all of those women would have married him if he had wanted to marry them. It could be said that Johnson has extremely high standards, which would mean he would work hard to make America better because of his high standards. Kobe Bryant is some what the same way. He was able to get a least one other woman to sleep with him even though he was married.

As I was writing this piece I thought of Tiger Woods. Woods was able to maintain about fifteen mistresses. In addition, Woods played golf at a professional level and won multiple golf tournaments and majors. Beyond that, Woods was able to make a number of his mistresses, if not all of them, fall in love with him. That is all proof that Woods has the ability to multi-task.

Years ago Henry Kissinger said power is the greatest Aphrodisiac. Kissinger's quote and what I said in the previous paragraphs show that Gingrich's ability to get three women to marry him had very little to do with Gingrich. It also says nothing in terms of whether or not Gingrich would be a good president. The facts that three women were willing to marry Gingrich and that two of them were willing to sleep with him while he was married do not mean he would make this country better.

14. Gingrich Would Be Unfaithful to the Constitution

Jan 2012

If when this guy says "unfaithful to the Constitution" he means not follow the rules of the Constitution it is already known that Gingrich would be "unfaithful to the Constitution". Gingrich is on record saying that he would ignore the Supreme Court if he did not agree with the decisions they put forth. Anyone who knows anything about the Constitution knows that the president is not supposed to ignore rulings of the Supreme Court. Ignoring rulings of the Supreme Court would be being " unfaithful to the Constitution".

I always cringe when the news interviews them at the polls - it's all about absolute power for them. Their vote should be the least important in an election, not the most.

What's the plan, to black out the "Do not commit adultery" commandment????

Funny how they go easy on their adulterers. We democrats crucified and destroyed Edwards without batting an eye. I don't think either Newt or Edwards should be president, but we could be kinder and more forgiving.

Although they both cheated while their wives were sick, which is really bad...I fault Newt more. He is a sleazy, creepy ball of lard and no woman would go to bed with him without a lot of $$$$$$. So he had to be the istigator/seducer. Whereas Edwards is extremely attractive and probably had women throw themselves at him repeatedly, so we don't know how many times he resisted.
