what does newt have in common with south carolinians? do they all have tiffany accounts?

is it newt, the common man?

newt, the adulterer?

newt, the violator of federal tax laws?

newt, the liar to a federal ethics panel?

Eighty-four, count 'em, eighty-four ethics charges were filed against newt during his term as speaker?

what is it about newt?

i think they believe he will talk down to President Obama the same way he spoke down to juan williams and john king.

i believe they want newt to put the President 'in his place'.

i believe that is newt's attraction.

You will learn much about these types of people. Their mindset is dangerous. The "Christian" Right is not Christian at all.
As for the southern states, there is an additional factor of race. Don't be taken aback should Gingrich win today's primary in a double digit rout. The (ever shrinking and polarized) GOP base wants someone such as Newt who enjoys "putting minorities in their place".

over why Newt got away with using William and King as foils. Both of them could have easily smacked down his royal highness by insisting he answer their goddamn questions, but neither did.

That generally means anybody not born and raised in the state.

Romney is a highly suspicious character to them because of his religion which is the elephant in the room. They might hold their noses and vote for him, but they won't be happy about it. He may win the whole thing, but they can smack him hard now instead of the general election.

Romney is also as dull as dishwater. He has no idea how to connect with people.
