MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) The CEO of UnitedHealthcare was killed in a Midtown shooting Wednesday morning, sources told PIX11 News.
Brian Thompson, 50, was shot just before 7 a.m. near a hotel on 54th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, sources said.
He was rushed to an area hospital and later died. Thompson was in New York City for an investors meeting at a Hilton hotel, according to sources.
He became CEO of UnitedHealthcare in 2021 after joining UnitedHealth Group in 2004. UnitedHealthGroup was scheduled to start its annual Investor Conference at 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the company.

Nothing justifies that. How many have voted for repubes that are the main reason we don't have Medicare for all? So many voters shooting themselves in the foot and acting the victim time and time again. For example: letting an orange, fat, felon rapist BACK into the WH.

(4,012 posts)Sad. I'm sure there's multiple cameras covering the area. I'm on Maryland's version of this plan waiting for Medicare. Some random sick F. Hope they get him.

(65,317 posts)It's been very tense. Health care systems across the nation have been on the edge of dropping United, which would mean that a lot of people (I don't know the total, quite possibly millions) would suddenly be out of network and wouldn't get reimbursed for their care unless they switched doctors and hospitals.
It's been a nightmare.

(303 posts)when I go to Legaltech. I just looked up what the daily rate bcause legaltech is coming up. This is a very safe area. There are two Hilton's there. The main one where he was shot and one around the corner which is a Hilton Garden inn.

(761 posts)but this man lost his life and leaves behind a family. I understand the frustration as I work for a large healthcare insurer but this is not the way to handle it. You should feel bad for a loss of life.
