MAGA Christians

From the Daily Kos:

“The fact remains that over 80% of white evangelicals proudly supported a pathological liar, a serial adulterer who bragged about sexual assaults, was an outspoken racist, and who did not even possess a single “fruit of the spirit” or one of the “seven virtues.” It became clear that their church had nothing to do with morality and love; rather it was usually just about money, power, and white supremacy.”

Truth is truth. Facts are facts.

What these supposedly Christian supporters of pedophile Trump are doing is chosing an imaginary Christian authoritarian dictator. They want to be controlled, and want the rest of us to be controlled, by an all powerful corrupt pervert.

They believe BS, lies, manipulation and cons. It's fed to them by filthy-rich idiots through corrupted media and they lap it up like fools.

They aren't really even chosing, or making a decision. They are just following the crowd, obeying the powerful and doing as they are told.

23. We always said this is creating god in man's own image...
Sun Jan 5, 2025, 02:32 PM
Jan 5

Of course, from time immemorial, that's what Man has done. Is there a God? Is there a Goddess? Is there some transcendent Universal Force that uses and binds all energy for its purposes? Age old questions... which you'll never know until after death. And, if it's all null, then there's nothing to know and no answers for you TO know any longer. I like to believe in the mystery of the Universe. It may not function in any way my mind can translate, but I hope to come back around this way again someday.

These people make up their religion out of whole cloth. No, that may not be right. They took what they'd been taught from their Bible, and turned it upside down on its head. Whatever the Book said to do, they did (and do) the opposite. There may be a last paralyzing gasp of this religion before it sinks back into the background with all the rest, but sink it will. I think some individual churches may come together to form a stronger religion based on the teachings of the New Testament, plus some other "New Age" beliefs, but even then, that's fashioning your own path. Which, to me is NOT an indictment or a slur... I think one's religious beliefs are up to them... even if that means they have none. Just don't mess with anybody else's.

Having lost my Mom Friday and dealing with funeral arrangements in the midst of a snowstorm, these types of questions have been on my mind a lot over the last couple of days. Especially now as I age and my mortality is staring me square in the face.

a warm embrace over your loss? I am deeply sorry that through everything else, you are having to go through this as well. I will keen for your loss.

I think atheists, religious, Spiritual, New Agers, Native American, ALL of them can agree on one thing that is not a 'belief' but a truth, and that is energy does not die.

If the energy that keeps these meat suits functioning, does not die, does the energy go somewhere else, because energy does not die? I like to think so, even the energy that moves flesh to dust, is a form of energy. Then the dust fertilizes the ground and creates life, again. Energy does not die. And IF you are a person who believes that you have a soul, is that not just another way for energy to move?

I am not going to share my beliefs on what is happening to humanity on this planet, because I keep this stuff to myself, thinking others will just think I'm nutzo!

Belief is a powerful force. And the 'cults' belief that that shriveled up nut sack, is anything other than this breeding ground of evil that is the incoming president, then we are fighting a belief rather than lies. That is harder than just giving facts that are the truth, fighting a belief system comes from a false faith. many people thought for eons that they can change a persons belief system, in trying to tell them facts and truth that the Buybull' is full of holes. They are choosing a truth that does not exist. And has never existed.

I hope you are finding some solace and peace.

Aho`

'That if truth is imaginary, then it is NOT the truth, it is a lie."

Well, when I first read your reply, I got a little defensive while I read it. At first I took it as you were calling ME a liar! I know that's not true.

I was saying that. "They are choosing to believe a truth that has never existed' Meaning, their so called 'truth' that tr**p XXXIV, won the 2020 election, that he its a 'godly' man, that he never raped a woman, and he is a 'Stable' genius. That is a non-existent truth they (his cultists) believe.

And what you said, if the truth is imaginary, it is a lie. Well, it sure IS a lie! You can't tell these people that they are lying when they live only in their 'belief' systems. Therefore to them, they are not lying, they don't want to look at who he is and why he is doing these things. They just WANT it to be the truth. They are choosing a truth that does not exist.

You are saying that the truth is in how they, the evangelicals, see it but the truth is not in reality.

Wow, they believe such obviously self serving lies made by pedo Trump. They are so easily manipulated. Just add the word "Christian" and they seem to believe anything. How did we get a country so filled with such gullible and ignorant people?

At least some of us can see beyond the con and manipulation. And because we are not so easily fooled, we are the ones on their hit lists.

..."Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount, parenthetically, in their preaching—'turn the other cheek'—[and] to have someone come up after to say, 'Where did you get those liberal talking points?'" Moore said.

"When the pastor would say, 'I'm literally quoting Jesus Christ' ... The response would be, 'Yes, but that doesn't work anymore. That's weak," he added. "When we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, then we're in a crisis."

Moore went to to say that he did not think it would be possible to "fix" Christianity by "fighting a war for the soul of evangelicalism," urging his concerned brethren to instead fight "small and local" battles like refusing to go along with the current "church culture."

is evidently hemorrhaging both members and money... and have been since the first trump misadministration. That sect and its intolerance and maligning of Christ's message can't die fast enough for me. And when I say sect, I don't just mean Southern Baptists... I'm also talking the New Apostolic Reformation, as well. No way we ever stepped foot in this land to become a theocracy, no matter what they say. It's simply power and greed... and they'll do anything to get it - and keep it.

I miss the good music of my old UCC and Methodist churches, but the UUs seem to be walking the walk without the god-bothering and the hypocrisy. (Many, though not all, of my Christian friends are decent people, to be fair.) The UUs have given me some decent opportunities to volunteer in support of new immigrants, which feels good, and they aren’t pretending that the election wasn’t a matter of grief.

They're on Team Cloven-Hoof.

It's odd but unsurprising. Perhaps of all varieties of Christian, they're the most adamant against syncretism, of letting non-biblical (and therefore, in their thinking, Satanic) ideas and practices filter in to their beliefs. Thus, no talk of "karma", and those stupid "hell houses" at Halloween (can't have witches and ghosts and whatnot).

Except for the things that they don't even think of as syncretism. It is so important to them to see themselves as Good Christians, Good Patriots, and Good Capitalists that they just overlook where those things are at odds. And every time there's a conflict, it's Jesus who gets tossed to the side. Do that long enough, and they become CINOs (Christian in name only).

and end up existing merely for the sake of the organization, unless they believe that all beings are equal, while having different qualities and differing realizations.

Many people cannot grasp the idea of people being both equal and different. They treat different as unequal, the fundamental basis of hierarchies, cults, racism and conflict.

A spiritual leader seeking no privilege other than the happiness of all might say:

At the start I took a vow,
hoping to make all persons
equal to me, without any distinction between us.

And did.

One in four Americans are evangelical, born again, or some other extreme 'Christian' group. They all want abortion to be banned and believe TSF will get it done. They also want to get rid of birth control and even, eventually divorce. They feel it is their duty to clean up this country and make it more god-fearing.
The comments I read and/or hear are that TSF is far from perfect, but he will move their agenda forward.

Thanks for sharing.

I was raised Catholic but have not been a follower of any organized religion for years due to an "incident" when I was a teenager. That was the turning point when I started questioning everything and developed my own thought process and belief system; which has evolved over the years.

'Nuff said.
