I'm grateful for this hour...

Having just gotten to view on my iPad the procession of President Carter to the Capitol rotunda. The formality of it all in no way strips it of the poignancy, particularly so in the case of Carter. I was choking up when the Naval Academy singers were paying tribute. It’s one of the best hours of American dignity that I can recall in awhile.

The words are so poignant. I sang it decades ago as a member of the Officers' Wives Club chorus at the Quantico USMC base.
