Clearly Iowa was the very definition of a tie, especially since the result was that each candidate got the exact same number of delegates. If it were a case where one got something from being a few votes ahead, and the other got nothing, then that's not really a tie.

I fully expect Gingrich to call on Santorum to quit the race, even if he doesn't fall behind Ron Paul. Clearly the anti-Mitt side is stronger without Santorum in the race, Romney could still squeak out a win or a tie there. Romney's already got states on the February calendar that favor him, like Nevada, Michigan, Maine and Arizona, whereas Colorado and Minnesota caucuses might be tough but winnable for Gingrich. The "beauty contest" Missouri primary on February 7th might be interesting, though. I expect Gingrich to work it and Minnesota fairly hard, since they're not in Romney's Western base.
