She said I could share her plight with folks. Her daughter in law has a rare disease and her treatment and funding comes from NIH only. It is a life threatening disease. Her granddaughter(offspring of daughter in law) has the same and needs special baby formula that is only manufactured in Germany.
I thought of all the families going through terror. Lost jobs, careers that were devoted to making our lives safe and healthy are ended, the immigrant on (as Bob Dylan wrote) the unarmed road of flight denied hope, the European families hearing that the US President and his minions are actively encouraging the Russian Bear to savage their lands.
Evangelical Christians and other Trump supporters did this. They approve of the terror the hard hearted wealthiest man in the world inflicts on regular Americans and literally starving children.Even our ancestors, living in the most primitive conditions of the Ice Age, tried to care for the most vulnerable yet this present amputation of empathy and compassion by the GOP always leads to bad ends. So we offer up what we can to those trampled upon and hope the healing and recovery will come soon. One thing we certainly know is that no one will be allowed to live a peaceful life ,to pursue happiness, while this cruelty holds sway.

(9,708 posts)get the treatment they need. It really is sad that those in this mal-Administration seem to think they and their families are somehow exempt from illness.

(36,922 posts)There will be many stories like this of horrible suffering inflicted by the heartless MAGA cult. It's going to affect the MAGAs themselves, and (I believe) that's when this heartlessness will finally end.

Like Tim Walz used to say "Mind your own damn business".
And I hope we see that pendulum swing hard left.
We are the only ones to save ourselves.

(12,432 posts)I read a story here a few days ago about a 12-year-old girl who was denied a heart transplant because her parents refused to allow her to be vaccinated for Covid. It would be a waste of a heart if the transplant went ahead and she contracted Covid and died. I really cannot imagine any parent who lives their child who would refuse a vaccine in favor of politics. Without the heart, their child will likely soon die. I understand that some people might have reactions to vaccines, but isnt her life worth the risk of getting vaccinated so she can gave a functioning heart?

(2,005 posts)They hear very little about the news, just that Trump is making waves and think thats good.

(7,448 posts)It would harsh their rethug winner buzz. How can they gloat about stigginit to the libs if they have constant reminders of people actually dying from this idiotic dick waving. Especially when it is people they know (or employ, but those are barely treated as human anyway).
Others just don't want to know because it bothers them to constantly hear about such suffering. They can't stomach what is going on. These are the people who thought they were voting for a cause. They were misled and now are in the Find Out phase of the equation.
It is just a shame that people have to die before some are convinced that this is fraking serious.

(414 posts)I used to know a super religious right wing nut. He was always concerned about welfare recipients. Said they ought to get off their ass and pull them selves up like he did. Work as hard as he did. (He didn't work that hard, and was stupid)
I used to ask how they were going to eat while "pulling them selves up"._
Not his problem, the " good Christian " always said. No body helped him.
So much for Christian charity and simple human decency. I have met a bunch of them, although he was the worst.
Just mean, selfish, hypocritical dumb bastards. You cannot reason with them

Sanctimonious as hell about a book most of them have never read.
The dumb bastard element of their personality explains a lot. Just selfish, arrogant, stupid people

Judge Chutkan said they needed to provide her with evidence of irreparable harm, in order for her to consider an injunctive stay.
Sounds to me like your friend's family members are the subjects of irreparable harm. (But I'm not a lawyer.)

(32 posts)And a call for action. Bronxiteforever, with your permission, I will call my WA representatives and relay your horrific position. I will tell them that you are a dear friend.
Every frickin day since Monday Feb 3rd, I have called and emailed my 3 representatives to express my disappointment and/or concerns about the Musk/Trump marriage and crisis of the day.
It works and helps me feel better, albeit temporarily. Sorry for the rant. Ill end with this:

(8,267 posts)He is specifically asking about MEdicare and MEdicaid stories, but I would think that NIH stories and defunded research stories are pretty close. He and his team are collecting real stories as ammunition I'd send the stories and let them make the call whether they will use it or not. Here's the link -
