Joe Paterno has passed away. My condolences to his family.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Joe Paterno, the longtime Penn State coach who won more games than anyone in major college football but was fired amid a child sex abuse scandal that scarred his reputation for winning with integrity, died Sunday. He was 85.

His family released a statement Sunday morning to announce his death: “His loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled.”

He might have well as dropped a weapon of mass destruction on the place.

You know, people who misplace guilt, are probably guilty of misplacing guilt in countless instances. Plus, I'd put my money on it they'd do nothing if they knew a neighbor was abusing their kid. Zip, zero, nada.

I find there's a tremendous, tremendous amount of hypocrisy among the allegedly angry few.

didn't know what was going on is RIDICULOUS! Joe Paterno isn't blameless, he isn't a victim. Tiny children are. Allegedly angry few? I don't get your post.

But I'm sure it wasn't painful enough.

About 27 lifetimes of excruciating torture would have been a start.

Fucking bastard.

That was my first thought too, after all the hub-bub last night. But the CNN story says that the family announced it.

From CNN: Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has died, his family confirmed Sunday. He was 85.

the taint of his covering up child rape for the sake of a football team and the status lays a huge stain over his family. i don't know if his wife and kids knew about his crimes, but the g-kids and any great gkids are very likely innocently covered by the shame. his football skills were excellent, his community skills not so much.

I guess he could've started personally joining Sandusky in his child rape instead of just covering it up. Is that what you're so certain "All the self-righteous people" would do? Join Sandusky in his raping of children?

I was. And if someone had seen it happen and chosen to keep it quiet the wound would be double what it is. I was six years old.

I have plenty of outrage and it isn't fake.

And I'm a woman! I respect your opinion but I bet you wouldn't hold that opinion is the little one being violated was your child...I AM A SURVIVOR os sexual abuse and damn it, STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR GROWN ASS MEN WHO VOLUNTARILY TOOK THE POSITIONS OF A.U.T.H.O.R.I.T.Y . You mean to tell me that this man knew everything that was going on with his team BUT HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CONSULTED ABOUT ONE OF HIS ASSISTANT COACHES RAPING A <<<BABY>>> IN HIS TEAMS' SHOWERS?!! and that none in McQuery's position would rescue that child, bless his heart and KILL SANDUSKY??!! I would have grabbed him by his perverted ankles and slammed him into the wall until he was pile of mush...period. Thaty baby that was being RAPED had every right to believe that he would be rescued and a yellow bellied, lily-livered creep more worried
his position with a storied football program....DISGUSTING!!

JoePa made the wrong call on handling Jerry Sandusky's criminal proclivities. For that, his entire career as one of the greatest football coaches of all time will be neutralized.

As far as his handling/enabling of the Sandusky affair, quite frankly his career should be neutralized. How many of Sandusky's victims have come forward now, twenty and that number could rise.

Paterno aided and enabled these crimes, turned a blind eye on these crimes, this suffering, these victims. For that his career, his reputation should be tarnished. He enabled a pedophile to carry on his crimes in his own locker room. All to protect his precious football team, his precious career. That's beyond fucked up, that is criminal.
