Abortion Would Be Unavailable In 5 States If This Group Is Successful
by Robin Marty

North Dakota. South Dakota. Wyoming. Arkansas. Mississippi. If Operation Save America has its way, all five states will be completely without access to an abortion clinic by the end of 2012.

God Discussions reports that beginning on January 22nd, the 39th anniversary of Roe V. Wade, the anti-choice group founded by Flip Benham will begin a targeted campaign to attempt to shut down clinics in states with only one abortion provider, effectively making them “abortion free states.”

According to cofounder, Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, “Let the liberation of America begin and let the church of the living God lead the way, one state at a time. Operation: First Abortion Free State seeks to apply the axe of God’s truth to the root of this idolatrous tree (abortion) in the hopes that our Lord will hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our broken, wounded land.”

Benham, a well-known anti-choice zealot, has been charged twice with “criminal stalking” of providers, as he and Operation Save America post “WANTED” posters both at providers offices and in their home neighborhoods.

I'm a clinic escort in Boston, twice a month. These asshats bring cameras and take photos of your license plate number (if you are not careful).

They photograph window cleaners -- especially if they are wearing t-shirts with the company logo and phone number. They are vicious and relentless.

manage political campaigns.

I see no grounds for compromise and voters tear each other apart while those who finance candidates push forward their corporatist views masquerading as bipartisan laws but in reality tighten their choke hold on We the People.

7. so do you think that those who believe in women's rights should just shut up?

do you really equate the tactics of the woman-hating anti-choicers and those who believe in women's rights?

polarizing political issues using abortion as an example.

If an issue involves an inalienable/unalienable right, SCOTUS is supposed to interpret the Bill of Rights and protect a right exercised by a minority against the tyranny of a majority.

If an issue involves a privilege granted by elected representatives of We the People, then those who exercise that privilege are always at the mercy of a simple majority protected minimally by the filibuster and presidential veto,

and privileges granted by a simple majority can be reversed with each election.

Government is supposed to protect inalienable/unalienable rights of a minority against the tyranny of a simple majority.

One might expect the issue of abortion and other divisive, polarizing issues to remain contentious until SCOTUS reclassifies them as rights and not privileges.
