Bob Schieffer. I have heard past interviews (including the last time Getrich peaked), where Schieffer eviscerated him into a bloody pulp and all he could do was gurgle.

Romney's narrative was that he was inevitable, and you tea partiers and fundies had better rally around him. Newt is trying to channel Reagan to go back to the future.

The feeling among Republican'ts is that Obama is Carter all over again, and that they had to go through all of this to get a new rebirth of Reagan conservatism. St. Ronnie was divorced, too, you know, although the circumstances were quite different.

We've had over a decade of tawdry entertainment, both in and out of politics that has lessened the shock value of what Gingrich has done in the minds of the fundies, they've become a bit inured to this sort of thing.
