The right-wingers have backed themselves into a political corner
They felt compelled to choose between a Mormon (Mormonism is not considered a "Christian" religion by many Southerners) and a serial adulterer who they perceive can truly "take the fight" to President Obama in future debates. Casting aside all pretenses of religious purity, they were forced in their own minds to vote for the serial adulterer, touting the principle of forgiveness of sin as their excuse. In this process, they exhibited their own religious hypocrisy, shades of racism and willingness to disregard the Constitution's guarantee of religious freedom to all citizens (despite their claims of being strict constructionists).
In short, most of these voters played the role of the emperor wearing no clothes, hoping no one would notice. Most of us did. Sam

1. Please make sure everyone rubs in to these so called religious elites themselves. I want to know
how in the hell do they know god really forgives them?

9. I personally believe there are a whole lot of things wrapped into the cloak of religion
in order to attract the political support of the religious masses. This is simply a charade which in fact orchestrates steps to achieve other goals. I say this both as a religious person who does not wear my religion on my sleeve and a political junkie observing the plays in this arena for decades. These are maneuvers put in place by the likes of Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers and their ilk.
Just my two cents. Sam |

Do you repent weekly? Or after each transgression?

That way you're always up to date on the being forgiven part.

Knowing catholic priests money talks and he can get all the forgiveness he wants. By the way did you see him at the National Cathedral in DC receiving communion christmas eve? I nearly choked. I figured if god can forgive this piece of shit then I can sit at home and ask god for forgivenes myself.

12. You know -- there is one small detail that has been lost in recent discussion
If Newt Gingrich truly told his second wife Callista with regards to sharing him didn't care what he did, is that rule of thumb still operative today or is it now defunct in view of her marriage to him? Just wondering what the score is on that point at this moment in time.

how is she going to feel when he loses? You know this has been a partnership between the 2 of them. I wonder what she will do because he has managed to destroy the republican party and he will lose the general. How will he make his living?

I find it interesting what is going to happen after the primary. I don't think he will win in the general. He has managed to destroyed the republican party. I wonder how he will make his income now.

20. After he sinks, he will write a self-promoted "tell all" book
which in fact tells one nothing. Callista will buy the first 1,000 copies and give them away as Christmas gifts and Newt will deduct the cost from his taxes. Then he will make the lecture rounds filling in the gaps of the book by supplying more "tell all" details about the Democrats and other devils he knows.
And so the cycle continues. Sam |

7. I would think weekly rather than after each trangression
That way to get to fully enjoy 7 days worth of the trangression and completely exhaust all it has to offer.
I'd think if one repented after each trangression, and keeps repeating the trangression, god might catch on. Of course one would have to get a new trangerssion each week...but with so many out there and new ones always being added to the list, I don't think it wouldn't be a problem coming up with several hundred/few thousand. |

I believe Newt Gingrich lives each day calculating how to take the next step to achieve his goal of being the man who sits in the Oval Office, and everything else revolves around that endeavor.

cheated on his wife as far as we know, is a socialist liberal communist muslim facist, so he's doomed to hell for all eternity already because God doesn't forgive non-republicans.

22. Controllable by who? Not by any that have my interests in mind or that are up to any good.
I also suspect that you don't become Speaker without taking on a fair number of strings and feral makes a critter an equal opportunity danger, which I'll take over being in the wrong end of a controlled danger in cold hearted, calculating, and vile hands.
Any which way you go you are only making a guess on a potentially less disgusting form off vomit and it gets down to personal tastes because puke is still the end result. My tastes lean toward the suicide bomber over the blackhawk as an enemy. The suicide bomber is going to take himself and maybe some of those who sent him. |

35. Yes, there's that and then there is this
Boehner thinks of himself as the most influential Republican in Washington. Should a Republican defeat President Obama, he or she cannot have a bigger ego than Boehner. After all, Boehner himself spearheaded the effort to dethrone Newt Gingrich from the Speaker position in the 90s AND HE DOES NOT WANT HIM BACK IN ANY CAPACITY.

16. Okay put aside ALL OF THE NOISE we have heard regarding election commentary
At this moment in time, after three Republican primary contests, one might say everything has gone as could have been predicted before the votes were cast.
Race #1 in Iowa -- an atypical snapshot of the voting electorate in the United States, an extremely conservative group of people went to the polls and by a small margin elected Rick Santorum. Race #2 in NH -- went for a so-called favorite son. No surprise there. Race #3 in SC -- known nationally for its ultra-dirty politics, voters yesterday went to the polls and selected the most vile among the Republican pack to "speak" for them in this national contest. Truly, are there any surprises here that most of us could not have foreseen absent any professional commentary on the subject? All that background noise that has accompanied these races is merely the professional commentators trying to justify their existence. Think about it. Sam |

34. Well, I am a Christian from the South and I don't judge Mormons
I grew up in a Baptist Church, was taught that the "judging business" was left to a higher authority and I live by that. I truly am uncomfortable talking about religion in a political context because I believe religion should not be preached within the political realm nor politics practiced at churches. When I used the word "many" earlier, I should have been more careful with my words.
