953 Dead People Voted in SC

Already, there has been some question into folks who cast their ballots on Saturday.

South Carolina's Attorney General, Alan Wilson has notified the U.S. Justice Department of potential voter fraud.

Wilson says an analysis found 953 ballots cast by voters were people who are listed as dead.

He has asked the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate.

One of the guys that was supposed to send his precincts certified forms in forgot and left on a vacation, and I forget some of the other ones excuses.

But the numbers were called in on election night.

The numbers were called in, they just weren't ever certified.

In 71 percent of those cases, ballots were cast between two months and 76 months after the people died. That means they "voted" up to 6 1/3 years after their death.

It is, of course, an uncontested primary for the Democratic nominee. So maybe they're part of our Operation Chaos.

By ANDREW ROSENTHAL

(snip)

Kevin Schwedo, director of the Department of Motor Vehicles, looked at the data and said he found 37,295 cases in which the person was listed as dead. Of that number, he said, 957 voted in “recent elections.”

If 957 people went around pretending to be a dead person in order to cast a ballot, that’s fraud. But it’s a tiny problem–such a minute percentage of the state’s 2,495,000 registered voters that it’s not even worth calculating. It’s not in the same space-time-continuum as the potential disenfranchisement of tens of thousands of voters. And yes I know there was an 8 vote margin in the Iowa caucuses.

But we don’t know enough about Mr. Schwedo’s statement to even reach that conclusion. Mr. Schwedo testified in the state legislature the other day that he did not know how long a period the data covered – just that it was “recent elections.” So it could have been 957 people in the last election, or the last 10 elections.

And, to compound the problem, no one even knows if those people are actually dead, or if they’re just listed as dead in state records, which everyone seems to admit are in a terrible state. The solution here is better record keeping and regular purging of voter rolls.

first you have that young arsehole winger (thinks he's some kind of journalist) attempting to commit voter fraud. Now you have this shite. It looks like they are creating the problem, so they can bully in their voter ID law solution. I'm more worried about ELECTION fraud, than the minute amount of voter fraud. That's too high of a number, when it's already been stated that voter fraud is about one per cent. I believe someone is doing it on purpose for a reason.

Matching one fantasy list with another is about the best that can be done. The chances of this being true is about equal to the chance of a completely unknown candidate like Alvin Greene winning the Democratric primary.

Both of them, if they happened, are just cases of manipulating easily manipulated software.

Because the Democratic party of SC decided not to demand an investigation and a new election when the obvious fraud happened with Greene, they deserve anything that the Republicans want to do in elections there.

all the way was more of an internal Democratic Party matter than a decision about voter fraud. It would have been long and messy. Because Greene would not step aside, forcing him out would have caused major problems. Gawd and everybody talked to him,but he wouldn't budge.

If there is a Democrat vs Republican problem, they will take that all the way.

You would have to know where the dead person had voted and possibly their address. This would have to be different from your voting place or you would get caught for sure. You would have to count on the fact that their registration had not been purged yet and that no one else was impersonating them. You would also have to count on the fact that the poll workers would not recognize you nor the dead person nor know about the death.
I don't know why anyone would risk this just to get an extra vote or two in.
