I think McConnell cemented the divides in the GOP today.

He was obviously going after the donors who turned their backs on the party after the Capitol riot. He was saying to them that he agrees with them about Trump but wants them to stay with the party.....the Republican Party....

Trump will have no recourse but to start his own party, which not only he but also his radicals have been talking about. That means two possible radical right wing parties in addition to the GOP.

Mitch was going for the donor class and leaving Trump and the others to their own devices....

In a very real way, the GOP is falling apart.

No tears....

71% feel that Trump was at least partially to blame for the insurrection. That includes all centrists, independants and center left people.... anyone needed for Republicans wins into the future. He had no choice. He had to side with them somehow. And let some other body take out Trump so Republicans don't lose the coalition of racists, greedies and fools that make up the current republican party. He had to appeal to both.

I thought he was playing for both sides of the divide.

Voting to acquit and then skewering Trump.
Playing to both the Cruz/Hawley and Liz Cheney sides.

Also playing to big donors.

I don't know if he can pull it off.

6. But what did Mitch accomplish with that speech?

1) Trump is embolden and more defiant than ever that he can be held responsible for even killing someone more ch less attacking democracy.
2) Trumps enemies list only became longer and he will be back on social media all day long tearing them down.
3) The crazy caucus is more embolden and will get louder now and you can also be assured they will have candidates to primary the not too crazy republicans.
4) The MAGAts have a victory now and you will soon see local Proud Boys chapters spring up in your own neighborhood, and since they will be heavily armed, they will make the KKK look more in tune with the Girl Scouts.
5) Trump will have a new source of income coming in monthly from the MAGATS that will allow him to keep a new plane in the air going to 2 or 3 rally’s a week and he will only the conspiracy theory machines running overtime and that could be the end of truth in our society.
6) the good news is the evangelicals will still have their savior, but the bad news is that Trump will be taking their donations directly now, and Trump doesn’t share.
7) i now have run out of places to look for hope and I guess that fat orange bastard will outlive me, so he gets the last laugh after all.
Is it really too late to get James Comey as attorney general?

He doesn’t need Mitch. The number of brave republicans in the senate today were 7. There was only 10 house republicans to vote for impeachment.
It ain’t Mitches party anymore.

13. Yes and now Trump will build his armed MAGA militia

Feb 2021

That is protected by the 2nd amendment to stand in front of any prosecutor, judge or jury’s house. He will threaten any person who looks to harm him or his movement which is now protected by the 1st amendment, and if you are a prosecutor that disagrees with that just look out your front door at your new armed MAGA guard.
May be exaggerating right now but we are 1 1/2 years from mid term and he already has 40% of the legislature on his side damn it.
