Yet another reason to restrict guns...

http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/accidents/stray-bullet-finds-woman-watching-fireworks-display-from-yacht-club/1268534

"ST. PETERSBURG — A woman watching fireworks from a second-floor balcony of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club was hit by a falling bullet shortly after midnight.

Laurie Eberhardt, 67, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where doctors removed what St. Petersburg police are calling a "large-caliber" bullet from her right wrist. They think the bullet may have come from a rifle.
"I was extremely lucky that the bullet, which fell from the sky as downtown St. Petersburg's celebration took place, did not cause a more serious injury or even my death," Eberhardt said in a statement."

I'm a gun owner. In my opinion...to possess or use guns you should:
1.) Have a license after a background check and mental health assessment.
2.) Complete a safety course.
3.) Carry private insurance (and the insurance company would likely check your health records, home security, family members, etc.).
4.) Register all guns and record all purchases or changes of possession.
5.) Require all youth to be supervised.

Otherwise, if you possess or use a gun without a license and registration you'd lose your gun and go to jail (just like a DUI). There's no question that shooting guns like fireworks in a downtown is bad judgment, and there's almost no chance that whoever shot the gun didn't have an audience. Would you ride in a car with a drunk down the highway at midnight New Year's Eve? Would you expect an arrest if you were in an accident or caught DUI? You get the idea! This is crazy...and there are too many guns that are too powerful in the hands of folks with too little training, experience, or good sense.
