Right on, Ron Paul

No, I am not a Ron Paul supporter, but I completely agree with his position on the TSA.

"In a harshly worded attack on the Transportation Security Administration, which handles security screenings at U.S. airports, Ron Paul, known for his strident libertarian views, said the TSA 'gropes and grabs our kids and our seniors and does nothing to keep us safe.'

<snip>

On the campaign trial, Ron Paul has called for the abolition of the TSA on the grounds that it wastes taxpayer money and violates personal liberties."

Real security will be achieved when the airlines are once again in charge of protecting their property and their passengers. This is the way it is handled in Europe. In Schipol (Amsterdam) for example, the airlines do the security process AT THE GATE, so no long lines, no hassle. The personnel are polite and even-tempered, unlike some of the TSA types I've dealt with at Newark and, worse, JFK.

it doesn't seem like Schipol is that different from US airports... they have the L3 millimeter wave scanners at several checkpoints, and it seems like they have even more cameras/surveillance. no information about what their pat-down practices are, but i can't imagine if you set off metal detectors they're just going to let you walk through unexamined.

i'm pretty skeptical that this isn't simply an attempt by Ron Paul and his son to simply exploit the unpopularity of the TSA to push their anti-goverment/ privatize everything agenda.

His position on TSA concerns does not help any civil liberty arguments made regarding the TSA.

The only reason to post his opinion of the TSA is to elevate him by letting him glom onto the issue.

Are you certain you aren't a Ron Paul supporter?

That's really the jist of the post, I thought.

I have a puppy that barks at any of her toys that squeak. It appears that some here on DU have the same reaction to the words "Ron Paul"

I think it's called a Pavlovian Response: no thought involved, just bark.

Really not complicated.

I can spell it out for you in more detail and using smaller words if you need that. I trust you finally comprehend what's wrong with saying "Right on, (racist piece of shit) Ron Paul!"

Would he advocate for no airport security and letting passengers and airport employees carry their own firearms for self protection?

patdowns and Rapiscan backscatter systems are ok when private companies employ them!

it only becomes evil when government does it!
