Incrementalism? if you can't get a "Grand Bargain", a piece at a time can work

With smaller deals, we can focus on specific issues and not get blind sided in the amendments. Being able to bring focused pressure on the politicians could work to our advantage.

Look, as of today, the long-term deficit doesn't exist anymore. Poof. It's gone.

There's no need for a grand bargain on deficit reduction. The deficit is a thing of the past. The question is what can we do to avoid the austerity hole we just dug.
