(27,461 posts)1. possibly a computer
but it's not 100% bad that it happened, it makes a good point to have the ad next to that story.

(4,558 posts)2. I searched, and found this statement
http://blog.stamfordadvocate.com/stamford411/2013/01/03/advocate-apologizes-for-gun-show-ad/
Our newspapers should not be running gun ads including ads for antique and collectible gun shows next to stories about Sandy Hook. Its insensitive, and it shouldnt have happened. It was an oversight, and we apologize for it. We have taken steps to make sure it doesnt happen again.

(45,806 posts)3. I actually heard on a radio/tv show yesterday that someone from that newspaper
said "I think it's goo that the ad was placed on the same page as the Sandy Hook sjppting. I think it points out the things that need to change.

(15,546 posts)4. It's the other way around
from my experience. The ads go in first, then the stories etc, fill in around it.

I got the pages with the ads BEFORE we started filling in the content.
