All of my furbabies are with me nearly every day. Some moreso than others. But they are there, tweaking my memories. I miss them all.

(39,191 posts)He passed on December 27 2007. He was nearly 14. His kidneys were failing, I could only grant him peace.

(30,947 posts)passed to doggie heaven July 2010. I still miss her. I had her cremated and have her ashes along with the ashes of my other Rottie that passed in 1999. I feel that they are watching over me.

(62,683 posts)We tend to keep them around longer than we should because we don't want them to go. I had a vet come and put my beloved cat Nero, to sleep, and I had no doubt I was doing the right thing for him. In fact I felt guilty for not doing it a day or two earlier.
It destroyed me, as I know it did you, but as you said, the best gift we can give them is freedom from pain and peace.
What a little cutie -- he had 14 years of being deeply loved. Lucky, lucky dog.

Corey my precious Bullie girl, lived to be nearly 15. She passed in July of 2008. She was my three year old in a clown suit. She loved cats, kids and everyone she met.

Now I'm a weepy mess.
