Steve Jobs' widow to join Michelle Obama at State of the Union address

President Obama has exercised a tradition of honoring national heroes by inviting the late Steve Jobs’ wife Laurene Powell Jobs, to the State of the Union address on Tuesday, reports Vanguard News. The visionary executive’s widow will join First Lady Michelle Obama in her box in the House of Representatives, according to a release from the White House.

Powell will be joined by Warren Buffet’s secretary Debbi Bosanek as a nod to the billionaire’s complaint about the level of taxes paid by his employees being higher than his own, Mark Kelly, the husband of Gabrielle Giffords, a representative who was wounded in a shooting last year and Mike Krieger, the co-founder of Instagram.

The late Jobs was a proponent of using Apple products in education and Apple recently held an event in New York City to promote inexpensive digital textbooks and a new authoring tool. Education is one of the themes of the President’s address to the nation today. The tradition of honoring those considered heroes was started by Ronald Reagan who invited a man named Lenny Skutnik to attend in 1982 after he rescued a passenger of a crashed airliner.

Then this should be good news to you...

Mr. Jobs is deceased-- the article is referencing his wife (unless of course you believe she's a "cult" business leader also).

Is it your contention that she would be there if she were not Steve Jobs' widow?

Do you honestly believe that a person would be likely to have this strong a view of the legacy of Mr. Jobs while not being aware of his passing? Really?

And if she is not a proxy for a cult business leader then why is she identified in the headline as Steve Job's widow?

If Nancy Reagan were invitied and I said BARF because I despise RW nationalist presidents would that suggest to you that I believe that Nancy Reagan was president?

The hagiography of Steve Jobs (of which this gesture is part) is sickening, hence the emetic reaction. (Barf.)

Steve Jobs was a greedy, arrogant, selfish asshole. What did his wife ever do?

Why continually surround yourself with the individuals who create the miserable conditions we are subjected to by the corporations...

Ouch, Romney is going to be seething about that.

I also read this as an indication Obama isn't all that concerned about facing Newt in the general election.
