Obama: No More Compromises

“One thing I will not compromise over is whether or not Congress should pay the tab for a bill they’ve already racked up,” Obama said in his weekly address. “If Congress refuses to give the United States the ability to pay its bills on time, the consequences for the entire global economy could be catastrophic. The last time Congress threatened this course of action, our entire economy suffered for it. Our families and our businesses cannot afford that dangerous game again.”

"In a news conference shortly after his 2012 re-election, Obama said he was willing to negotiate on taxes, but only up to a point. He said he would not "extend further a tax cut for folks who don't need it, which would cost close to a trillion dollars. And it's very difficult to see how you make up that trillion dollars -- if we're serious about deficit reduction -- just by closing loopholes and deductions. The math tends not to work.”

And, guess what? Obama's fiscal cliff compromises reduced revenue from $1.6 trillion to $600 billion, exactly the compromise he swore he wouldn't make.

Thanks!

To know what deal is what.

If the TeaPubliKlans are made to actually present a proposal rather than us self negotiating they might like, if scoring is insisted upon, and if the one to one ratio is relentlessly stuck to then the pukes are hard passes to demand virtually any cuts because they still have no revenue.

If we let them creatively declare things revenue as they tend to do we will get hosed.

I don't think Chumlee haggling over a trumpet is the same dynamic, there is no market.

One thing that watching tends to distort is that usually they don't make a deal. Well, unless you catch the right trivia question. I think they said they only make a deal 40% of the time.
Also, folks that ask for what the want always get hosed unless they ask for too little and the guys take mercy.

The GOP has to convince us they would really kill the hostage if they don't get their way....they already blinked
