They passed a law in '64...but it only goes so far

Slavery was allowed until 1865.
Jim Crow lasted until 1965.
Blacks couldn't even marry whites in many parts of the nation until 1968.
Women didn't gain vote nationally until 1920
Women couldn't even control their own bodies until 1973 in many parts of the country, and those rights are decreasing once again.

About this White Male Privilege that so many doubt, are they ignorant of our history? Do people forget how recently it was a matter of law? Do they think that these laws have changed enough minds that everyone is equal now?

Well they passed a law in '64
To give those who ain't got a little more
But it only goes so far
Because the law another's mind
When all it sees at the hiring time
Is the line on the color bar

Do you think that we still don't have to keep fighting the thinking that accompanied them for most of our history?

just don't realize how much privilege they do have. It's hard to spot privilege you've been raised to expect until someone threatens it.
