Exodus SPITZER,GRANHOLMet al from Current.Best reader comment: Don't need"false equivalency" network

Eliot Spitzer, who can't keep a job, resigned from Current TV today, effective immediately.

Taylor Berman

(Best comment from a READER: )
He is right to resign if it is true that Al Jezeera wanted to take the network in the direction of something like CNN. The last thing this country needs is another bullshit, false-equivalency, balance for the sake of balance network like CNN.

Eliot Spitzer Ends His Show on Current TV

By BRIAN STELTER

Mr. Spitzer said he had a “wonderful time” at Current, but emphasized that his relationship was with Al Gore and Joel Hyatt, Current’s co-founders, not with Al Jazeera. “Moving forward, their mission will be different,” he said — more international newscasts, less liberal talk about the news. ....

A Current spokeswoman said Sunday that Mr. Spitzer “has chosen to step back from hosting ‘Viewpoint.’ Until further notice the show will be hosted by John Fugelsang.”

Mr. Fugelsang, a comedian, has been a frequent commentator and host on Current recently. ....

Al Jazeera said that the progressive talk shows on Current would continue for about three months before changes are put in place. But two of Current’s hosts, the former governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm and the sitting lieutenant governor of California Gavin Newsom, said they would leave within weeks. ....

Wouldn't watch Spitzer if you paid me, but I will miss the Governor(Jen, I mean).

I'm sure Al Jazeera will do their best to royally muddy the waters of news to stay on the right people's good side in this country, while giving themselves wiggle room to serve their many masters overseas.

Yes, I meant Ann BANCROFT's husband. Sometimes the words/names don't click in my deteriorating brain although I know what I mean and KNOW that my bestest pals out there GROK me!1

NOTE: I'll watch "History of the World Part I" every single time it's on, plus the Robin HOOD thing, and especially the High Anxiety. I love the whatizit LIFE STINKS one, where Mel ------------B R O O K S!1 ------------ plays pals with homeless and they take the ashes of one of them to the cement river for "burial at sea" and a wind rises blowing the ashes while they say goodbye and they start sneezing and Mel goes, "BLESS you, BLESS you!1"

I don't know, to me I don't care for her anymore than I care for any of the goofs on The View. I'd rather watch David Schuster do a news show than some "comedienne" try to talk politics even if she is a Democrat.

6. SHUSTER?!1 He (and Keith) lost me back during the fake indictment of KKKarl days
Sun Jan 6, 2013, 11:43 PM
Jan 2013

When every night he was "reporting" that HIS SOURCES, whom he represented as being HIGHLY in the know, were telling him that the indictment was going down ANY F***ing time. He "reported" to us that his sources had INTIMATE knowledge of the grand jury happenings.

This is separate from what was also going on here at DU with somebody predicting the same thing.

So we were all on tenterhooks. Then it didn't happen. Here on DU there was some despicable covering in the last minutes of the supposed happening, telling us the non-happening was a matter of "working days" as opposed to "calendar days."

So when it finally never happened, SHUSTER had some 'spaining to do, and it was this: His SOURCES were dudes who had VAST EXPERIENCE with clients IN FRONT OF GRAND JURIES. *Not* THIS one/grand jury. They represented random clients in front of OTHER grand juries, so intimately knew how grand juries work.

Iow, this SHUSTER was assured by his SOURCES of what this particular, specific grand jury was going to do based on their vast experience of what totally random other grand juries had done in totally other random situations.

The bottom line was that his F***ing SOURCES were acting, with him and us, as PUNDITS giving their GUESSES.

El Senor SHUSTER previously worked for the Faux Propaganda Network, where he did what they do at Faux, which is to tell their audience what their audience WANTS TO HEAR. And when he had his epiphany to be relocated over to the supposedly Left outlet, he was telling his LEFT audience what he thought WE wanted to hear (not actually REPORTING).

*********So, I don't disdain some people based on the supposed low status as COMEDIENNE, but rather on whether they are RELIABLE, and I haven't kept up with el senor SHUSTER for me to know whether he has grown any more reliable than he was before. Gosh, I really wasn't planning on an exegesis, need to knock myself out with FreeCell and SpiderSolitaire.

KKKarl pulled whatever strings and got out of it. I don't fault anyone for thinking and analyzing "Well, there's no way he can get out of this one".

Calm down, and have a good night, ok?

What is it that Spitzer et al. have been doing, that Al Jazeera doesn't want to continue to do?

I hope it's not a tragic case of liberal commentators being worried about being accused by R-wingers of consorting with scary furriners, and Al Jazeera being worried about being accused by R-wingers of consorting with liberals!

And I say that withOUT any disapproval. First of all, the word "gossip," as in Kitty KELLEY, has NO equivalency with "UNtruth."

Gawker consistently hits at our wingnut a-hole enemes, and also at hypocrites. Obviously, I don't speak for Gawker, but for me SPITZER made himself dig-worthy --- for LIFE?!1 --- by ditching a clean image of busting crummy actors by then going to bed with them, and with black socks on. For years, a personal pique of mine has been the recycling of jerks who have either screwed up or have been rotten all along or lost elections, recycling into media slots where they then pass judgment on others: ToeSucker MORRIS, Pat BUCHANAN, Oliver NORTH, BARNICLE, the Watergate jerk, and countless others.

As for SPITZER, who had sterling promise for us, the question recurs, what is the shelf life of rehab until he can be cleansed back into decent society? I don't care about him enough to monitor his progress.

It's always about the hypocrisy.

from Wiki:

"In addition to prosecutions and civil actions in the financial sector, Spitzer has pursued cases in both state and federal courts involving pollution, entertainment, technology, prostitution, corruption, occupational safety and health and other fields in which New York plays a part in setting and maintaining national standards of conduct."

...I'm curious. Is there ANYONE on the airwaves that could pass your "sniff test"? Nobody's perfect. If they try to present themselves as such, SOMEONE'S gonna find some dirt. Hell, legend has it that the last perfect person got crusified at age 33. That's just about the age that most journalists of note start to gain acclaim.

For that matter, CNN International is also excellent. They seriously should fire the US Cadre and bring in the International production team and watch what happens to ratings and revenues...

They have a good reputation for a lot better news coverage than we get from any of the broadcast or cable news (sic) channels or programming. Sorry to see the liberal bent go, but accruate news coverage may make it worth the loss.
