1. Markey was planning to run if Kerry stepped down for some reason

and Markey should get the spot so he's running as an incumbent at the end of Kerry's term.

This is no slam to Frank, whom I've adored since he was in the Mass. Lege, skewering wingnuts with great panache. However, if he doesn't intend to run at the end of Kerry's term, he needs to step aside now.

D. Patrick said he would not appoint a senator who would run for the seat. He wants the people to choose.

That's why they call it an election.

I find Patrick's reasoning bizarre.

6. Gov Patrick has said that he will NOT appoint anyone as the interim senator that ...

... is going to run in the special election - so, Markey will NOT be appointed to be the interim senator.

Markey will need all the spare time he can find in order to fund raise and campaign for the primary and special election this summer.
Markey would not have the time to go to the senate now and learn everything and focus on the job that needs to be done.

Barney Frank would be the perfect person to hold the seat for a few months until the special election since he does not want to run in the special election.

3. O'Donnell does more good being on TV educating the American public, we need him on TV :)

The senate seat appointment is only for a few months and I think Barney Frank would be the perfect person to be the seat holder

Also, O'Donnell said that he was not going to say for sure if he will put his name in the hat until tomorrow night, and if he doesn't he will tell us who he thinks should be the temporary senate appointee.

p.s. He was teasing about Barney taking over on his show for him.

Also, O'Donnell has a contract with MSNBC he can NOT just leave for a couple of months and go to the senate.
His Re-Write segment was tongue-in-cheek

I think the Re-Write segment is the best thing ever invented. If I don't watch all of the show, I always tune in at 10:40 for the re-write.

that popular Progressives are being seriously considered for meaningful political roles. Good news all around and encourages others, as well.

Lawrence knows better than we if he thinks he can get anything done in the do-nothing congress. We sure would miss his show. Go for it, Lawrence!
