He did, at least, appear SANE.

But you know, as I do, that appearances can be deceiving.

like a pompous asshole. It is somewhat presentation and approach, and Newt seems to be simply a dick.

That's why he chose not to run. I suspect, seeing Newt's success, he sees a new opportunity for reputational rehabilitation.

I believe he was actually the good guy in that drama, raising the four daughters. People aren't going to care if his wife did some stuff.

There's drab and then there's "quick, check his pulse!" and Daniels falls into the latter category. He will never, ever, ever be President.

Don't shoot the messenger. But it's true. Short men rarely have won the Presidency. I guess it's because the shorter men have trouble being seen as leaders and authoritative.

His voice was also kinda weak.

But I'm not a Republican. Maybe he's got the right stuff in other ways for them.

I think George Bush really wanted him to jump in, and Laura called his wife. There is something in the background there regarding his domestic life that he thought would become political fodder if he jumped in. He reportedly discussed it with his family, but declined the invitation to enter the race.
