I don't believe so. I just don't think the Republicans have offered anything that looks like a workable plan. Obama made quite a contrast this evening.

"I'm a staunch Republican and he won me over."

I think he did himself proud.

I remember how in 2008 right after we learned how Obama had carried an enormous number of staunchly Republican counties in places unexpected like in Indiana, North Carolina and Virginia – John King kept pushing the point over and over and over again about how none of this represented in any way , shape or form a shift to the left. However, whenever a Republican carries a traditionally Democratic district - he does the opposite. He reminds everyone over and over and over again of what a dramatic sea change this represents. Last week in South Carolina, he could have so easily hit back at Gingrich for his hypocrisy in leading the impeachment effort against Bill Clinton while carrying an affair while at the same time representing himself as the spokesman for traditional American family values. Instead he just sat there contrite and humbled accepting his much deserved scolding.

Fascinating bit is that 1) Obama as pro-poverty doesn't sell and 2) Republicans did a crappy rebuttal and 3) Obama made a much stronger case (almost 70% on that one).

Fascinating!
