Check out this thread at a conservative site. I told you they hate us and that they're dangerous.

Sorry that the link's not hot.

(21,103 posts)I bet they all have guns. It's amazing how a steady diet of Fox and right wing media has so poisoned these type of people that they are unable to even tolerate someone with a different opinion. Yet these same people get social security and medicare or their parents do. I don't know what will change their minds if ever. My husband works with a guy like this who hates unions but has a good paying union job. They are sold this steady diet of fear and fears eats ones soul.

(31,849 posts)all/most/alot of these type of posts start with "I'm tired of hearing your evil views" and then goes on to talk about death to the liberals. This suggests to me that the posters have, and continue to, lose "arguments" with liberals, and as with any juvenile, are attempting to "win"/end the argument, the only way their arrested emotional development allows ... by violently "upsetting the board."

(37,573 posts)Many people have expressed here that they come here to get away from conservative BS.
And many here think that conservatives are evil, stupid, and destroying the country and the world and expect/anticipate another civil war where liberals and conservatives are shooting at each other blue states of the north vs. red states of the south.
I believe it was 2003 or '04 when I proclaimed on a public forum that I thought that George W. Bush supporters had to be either stupid, willfully ignorant, or just plain evil, because I couldn't see how any American could support Bush policies that, in my opinion, were certainly driving us off the "Bridge to the 21st Century" and into the ditch. That said, I never wished to see those people dead in the streets.
The problem with a conflict between the Red and the Blue is that we Blues can't be bothered; we're too busy discussing the matter to put down our lattes long enough to train for combat.

(5,714 posts)Both sides are NOT the same. This needs to be made very, very clear.

Here, we try to drive them off the site with even the slightest whiff of rwinginess. And right here in this thread are diatribes of hate for wingnuts, conservatives, and Republicans of all stripes, with overtones of violence.
I understand the value of safe havens, but safe havens ultimately destroy any useful discussion or solutions. Here, as on most political sites, it's all just gassing around (so anyone who takes this stuff too seriously has a problem) but out in meatspace we have to deal with differing opinions on a regular basis.
I've found that in local politics around here that the windbags on both sides are loud but have no realistic solutions to their gripes and so are eventually ignored, if not ridiculed. What we do is sit down and try to find what we agree on, then expand that. Party politics is always there, but it's usually more like farmers vs developers or waterfront owners against open beach rights.
Someone at one hearing long ago said that if everyone at the negotiation was pissed at the result, that was as good as it gets. (really watch out if just one party is smiling.)

(9,463 posts)some of us Liberals are dangerous, too. I literally hate them with ever fiber of my being and I dare a single one of them to challenge me on the street.

(318 posts)I can't hate them, but I am dumbstruck and bewildered about the frame of mind that begets the Wingnut.
And I think that Rush Limbaugh et al should be jailed for treason.

(9,463 posts)our nation and our way of life and they hate you with a white hot passion. They won't hesitate to slit your stomach open and watch your guts fall out in the street given the opportunity. You better hate them more than they hate your or you're going to be history.

(318 posts)I do agree that some of these Wingnuts have dangerous ideas as evidenced by the link I posted, but do you *really* believe that these old, fat, heavily medicated, out-of-shape blowhards could catch me in the street and slit my stomach open? And, another question: How can you hate sick people?

(9,463 posts)in the 13 I've known him, was over here a few days ago and went into a rage that Obama raised his taxes in the fiscal cliff deal. He makes his wife go out and make his living. She has direct deposit (she work's in the same place as my s/o does) and he keeps the debit card. He's 10 years younger than me and wiry and furious. I only tolerate him because he is my s/o's brother. He even once stopped in the middle of a 4-lane highway and told me to get out because I said I enjoyed being a union member and that my union wasn't dictating to me how I should vote in elections. Oh, and BTW, he doesn't bother voting either but has plenty to say about governing.
They are NOT all old and feeble. And they HATE you. I choose to respect that hatred and I can tell you: I don't hate them because they hate me, I hate them because they are evil. And if we should fall into a "civil" war situation, I will participate for as long as I am able.

(318 posts)Do you think that your brother-in-law would resort to violence of the nature that's being discussed in the thread I posted? If so, then ...
I posted the thread so that people around here could see that their rhetoric has become threatening and that we should be aware of that. In some Wingnut circles, this kinda violent talk has become extreme. I don't want to think that we are *like* them, but we must be aware of what they think and what they may be willing to do.
In the glass half-full world, I hope that this kinda talk is just the last gasp of a dying faction. The rants of very insecure people who are consumed with the fear of a changing world. I hope, anyway.
