You might be a gun nut if....

At the beginning of each month you have to decide "pay the mortgage or buy some shells"

You need software just to inventory your guns

When the TV news reports on a cache of weapons found at a criminals residence you always think to yourself "That's ALL he had? That ain't nothing..."

You carry all your guns to the basement when a storm is building

When you go to a gunshow and get bored cause you see nothing you don't already have.

Saw this online thought it was on point.

(for example, needed software to inventory....)

I think it's attitudal.
Basically if you think no one is going to fuck with you because of your guns, you are well on your way to being a gun nut.
When you decide that you are going to exhibit your gun so people treat you with respect, you have already arrived....

But they're obsessed by people who they've never met that do have guns!

Nuts to the left of me, nuts to the right!

It's a squirrel's wet dream!

People who are basically powerless in the world feel that owning something with localized power gives them some agency, however illusory it is.

I am very much for reasonable regulation of firearms, yet on a topic so very polarizing as this appears to be, I just don't think this is helpful.

you are TRULY a gun nut if you value this right over all other things. Or if you worry about this administration's actions. Or if you worry about having to register your weapon. Or if you have ANY thoughts about stopping the government with your guns. Or if you carry in a notoriously safe area. Or if you ever entertain thoughts of saving others with your weapon(beyond the occasional daydream). Or if you react to the most recent school shooting by racing to the gun store.

There are many reasons to have a gun. Collecting classic guns is fine. Collecting an arsenal is strange.

I don't think I'm a very good gun nut.

At the beginning of each month you have to decide "pay the mortgage or buy some shells"

For some people, that may be the choice between paying the mortgage and shooting something to eat. I rather think "real" gun nuts load their own cartridges. Away, my house is paid off, so not an issue.

You need software just to inventory your guns

It's amazing how much of a "low information voter" one can be and still be able to use accounting software.

When the TV news reports on a cache of weapons found at a criminals residence you always think to yourself "That's ALL he had? That ain't nothing..."

I don't watch TV news, except for Rachel.

You carry all your guns to the basement when a storm is building

I sit in the parlor making jokes for my wife's amusement, same as always.

When you go to a gunshow and get bored cause you see nothing you don't already have.

Well, there's always Nazi memorabilia for sale. (I know, right?) I don't buy from gun shows. They often sell crap at inflated prices. Plus, there's no way of knowing where it came from.
