I have no doubt were it not for Occupy we'd be seeing a much more moderate policy position, here. Yes, on foreign policy and drilling he's still staying firm to his "strong" more right wing stance, but I did see a very real policy shift here. A SOTU where tax hikes on the rich were being championed? Pretty sweet. And very unlikely without OWS!

in Congress (to kick their ______ _____ out at long last) is the next task ahead.

Without them voting en masse.... the DO-NOTHINGs will continue to do nothing.

challenging the right and right leaning members this year. I think this should be the main goal for election, to get behind these candidates and start the process of creating a real progressive Democratic Congress.

Not sure OWS will get into politics, but what they ARE doing, and very successfully, is planting the messages in the political arena that need to be addressed. Economic Equality, Ending the poisonous influence of money over our government and taxing the wealthy.

Progressive candidates can pick up those themes, all of which polls show are supported by a huge majority of the American people.

And there is nothing to stop candidates from joining their local Occupies. Some NY City Legislators have done so eg.

It's impossible not to be in this kind of all acccepting movement. In addition all protest groups have always been infiltrated. I think they might be surprised at just who is doing the infiltrating but they have known all along that they have "others" among them.
Still they are very aware of the attemps to co-op the movement and seem very confident that it won't happen. They are pretty resourceful.

That alone is a tremendous accomplishment.

Meantime, the progress is ongoing even as we speak, the momentum is not only being preserved but is growing in many cities.

The coming Spring is going to be spectacular!
