where you are.

I'm thinking I recall that when I lived in No. Va. someone who had a column in the Post kept on reminding people not to bother to report the first robin of spring, because they'd been there all along.

Here's a link to a map which shows the range of robins.

- but they seem to disappear and become silent. You just don't see or hear them when the weather is cold. It might also be that we don't hear them when it's cold because we're not outside as much. For whatever reason, they really come alive when the temp begins to rise.

I figured he must have been lost or forgotten by his flock. Or maybe an early scout? Poor thing will be freezing this coming week, though.

Have never seen them at this time of year. Although when I looked it up, there is a species that winters in WA. Just have never seen them. So I guess we'll keep the feeder going!

- they'll be here until the weather snaps back to cold and then they'll go away until true spring. I'm in NoVa, too, and the same thing occurs any year we have a January Thaw.

Has your weather been normal so far? Sure as hell hasn't been here in WA

- we had some freezing temps in December but no dips to the teens yet. Now we've had this last few days of higher temps and really bad fog that has extended from NoVa into the Shenandoah Valley for about 3 days. I hope that goes soon.

On the other hand, the news guy just said to "stay tuned" because temps were getting ready to dip and we might see a few snow flakes! Yippee!
