Obama = LBJ ?

With partial support from the liberal institutions LBJ ramped up the misguided imperial aggression abroad due to a political climate in which appearing tough on communism was a necessity. Meanwhile he ran a fairly effective social platform at home, actually improving the lives of many americans and supporting civil rights.

Take LBJ, replace "communism" with "islamism".

There are some differences, but I think the analogy is perhaps not so far off.

as the legislation that brought us Medicare and Medicaid.

Instead, we got a health care bill that is a give-away to the insurance industry.

Please explain how President Obama is "ramping up misguided imperial aggression". He is withdrawing our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan (perhaps not fast enough for your liking), and implemented limited and brief air action in Libya. And unless you have evidence to the contrary, he's not planning engage in military action in Syria or Iran.

In doing so he has partial support by the liberal institutions, since, as with communism, there are plenty of people in the liberal institutions who buy into the idea that there is a global threat of Islamic terrorism.

Let's encourage him not to repeat that one.

Half the people hating him believe he's Muslim so that begs the question: Why would Obama attack Islamic ideas when he's 'one of them'?

This silly notion will gain no traction in the great white-wing echo chamber

Obama faces a tougher opposition than LBJ did, for that reason.
