why do good laws come with an expiry date ?

I am not talking about assault weapons ban...

I am talking about the Violence against Women Act ( 1994) that has expired and not renewed by the fucked up misogynistic bastards in the congress...

Did they ( the original guys who authored the bill) seriously think that laws worked like a course of antibiotics ??? have the law on the books for 15 years and disease gets cured forever !!

Also, laws in general have sunsets for two main reasons

1. If they cost money (and most do), it reduces the amount on paper that it will cost
2. It's a way of not being tied to a law that ends up not working
