200 involved, 3 arrested at Baby Shower brawl

http://www.wcvb.com/news/local/metro/Stoughton-baby-shower-brawl-lands-3-men-teen-in-court/-/11971628/18119112/-/gm46oqz/-/index.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2262022/Baby-shower-turns-200-person-brawl-ending-4-arrests.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

Three men arrested in a violent brawl at a Massachusetts baby shower in which bottles and punches were thrown and furniture was smashed have pleaded not guilty.

Patrick Cardoso Lopes and Paulo Pires Depina, both, 24, as well as 22-year-old Aderito Lopes Deandrade, were released on $1,000 bail at their arraignment Monday.

The Brockton men face charges including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer.

The men had no comment outside court.

A 14-year-old boy was also arrested, but his name was not released.

Police responded to a function hall in Stoughton late Saturday and found as many as 200 people involved in the fight they say was sparked by uninvited guests. Police Sgt. Daniel McGowan called the scene a "nightmare."

Seems like every time I see a brawl, whether bus stop, or party, whatever on the news, its always blacks. Does anyone here other than me think this is racist?

What makes you think they're all black?

Portuguese people in southeastern Mass. were pretty unfussy about skin color. Chances are this Donnybrook represented the whole human rainbow.

Shame on you.

after the Irish, not that I'm assuming any of those folks are here illegally. It's just a demonstration of immigration patterns.

There are plenty of people from the Azores and from Portugal, itself, and they are united by language and customs with Brazilians and Cape Verdeans. That is why this mess likely had all colors of the rainbow, although the arrests, as usual, were mostly people of color.

Have someone write down everything mom says as she opens her gifts. ( Without her knowing, of course. She should think the person is just jotting down which person gave which gift. )

When she's finished opening her presents, the person says, "Okay, now we will hear what Mom-to-be said the first time she and Dad-to-be got together for some monkey love."

There follows a reading of her responses:

"Isn't that cute!"

"Gosh. It's so tiny!"

"Aw. Look. It's got little bunnies on it!"

Silly, but good for a lot of cheap laughs. Let's hope it wasn't this game that started the whole brawl in Mass, though!

I have been to a few with men, though, and I think it's nice to have the dad and his friends there, as well as having more conversation and fewer silly games.

But fighting? You know when you bring various family members together, if some don't really get along, things can get uncomfortable. I wonder what brought this on.
