ACA (Obamacare) helping out in TN.
I have a brother and sister who have been ill for years. They have not had insurance (or money) to have their conditions treated. A couple of years ago, a lot of fellow DU'ers pitched in to get my sisters nose cancer removed (thank you!) but she has been unable to follow-up on her condition. Since New Years, after years of literally no treatment from the local Health Department, they have both been put on TN.'s newly created, "bridge coverage" for people who cannot afford health care. My brother came over last night. After years of suffering with his teeth, they put him on antibiotics to cure his abscess in preparation to see a dentist. He has heart disease that is actually going to be treated. My sister was put on this program last week.
IDK how this new program will work but at least they are getting some treatment. They are even getting actual prescriptions instead of free anti-depressants.
Obamacare is a good start for people who cannot afford care, I wish, as most of us do that we had universal health care....
I asked my brother (who was amazed at the sudden show of compassion) if anyone mentioned Obamacare. Of course (in TN.) they did not. I wish that "they" would at least explain to them why the sudden huge change in care..
