DC, Justice Scalia argued that the state can restrict ownership of “dangerous and unusual” weapons and that “nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.”

I remember while watching the Justice Sonia Sotomayor confirmation hearing they talked a lot about Heller and at the time I avoided going to do research about what all the fuss was about - I guess now (those of us that aren't familiar with it) we'll have to do a bit of research
