Ralph Shortey, Oklahoma State Senator, Introduces Bill Banning Aborted Fetuses In Food

Just when you think that the rethugs have hit rock bottom in their attempts to think, there is this:

A Republican state senator in Oklahoma has introduced a bill banning aborted human fetuses in food, despite the fact that there are no known foods or food products that actually contain aborted fetuses.

Sen. Ralph Shortey of Oklahoma City introduced on Tuesday Senate Bill 1418, which prohibits "the sale or manufacture of food or products which contain aborted human fetuses." He says he based the bill on an article he read online about an anti-abortion group boycotting companies that allegedly use embryonic stem cells to research and develop artificial sweeteners.

“People are thinking that this has to do with fetuses being chopped up and put in our burritos,” Shortey told NewsOK. "“That's not the case. It's beyond that.

I don't think they should be used in Christmas tree ornaments and those air fresheners that you put on the car dashboard. I hope Ralph can take time from his busy, busy day to incorporate this oversight.

He read something on the Internet, the source of all truth, that a company was developing a chemical test using aborted-fetus stem cells to scientifically determine whether things (specifically, new artificial sweeteners) taste good. Now, most people would just eat some of it to decide whether it tasted good, but not this company--who has announced that not only does their test not contain aborted fetuses but they would never consider using aborted fetuses.

Now if you think of it...an average aborted fetus weighs what, maybe an ounce? In order to make even one commercially-successful food product out of aborted fetuses you'd need more aborted fetuses than get aborted in a year. So to make fifty or a hundred food products out of aborted fetuses...I'm thinkin' Charles Ponzi and his international reply coupons, or Bernie Madoff and his hedge fund that was set up like a regular mutual fund, were thinking small next to Ralph Shortey's aborted-fetus-parfait racket.
