This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by gkhouston (a host of the General Discussion forum).
When we are not in the heat of election season, members are permitted to post strong criticism or disappointment with our Democratic elected officials, or to express ambivalence about voting for them. In Democratic primaries, members may support whomever they choose. But when general election season begins, DU members must support Democratic nominees (EXCEPT in rare cases where were a non-Democrat is most likely to defeat the conservative alternative, or where there is no possibility of splitting the liberal vote and inadvertently throwing the election to the conservative alternative). For presidential contests, election season begins when both major-party nominees become clear.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong but it really doesn't jibe with reality here. And maybe this isn't an appropriate place to discuss it. If I'm violating TOS by mentioning it, then I'm sorry.

(21,642 posts)I'll come back and lock this thread in a few minutes, but first I'm going to find and post a link to a thread that may answer your question. Basically, it's not "election season" until the admins declare it.

(21,642 posts)In the past, the admins have always announced "election season". I expect the same will happen this time, too.
