Thank you to the DU Admins

I want to thank the DU Admins for this place - Skinner, EarlG and Elad for this wonderful site, you guys are the best!

I feel so nostalgic with the upcoming inauguration of President Obama for his second term. The last four years have been a roller coaster of what the President could or could not accomplish. To me, he tried his best, sometimes, I too thought he was a bit naive, hoping he could work with the republicans. Do not know if he learnt that they are not willing to work with him!

All am trying to say is that America is still a land of opportunity and am looking forward to President Obama being inaugurated for a second term. Goodluck Mister President, You did well!

This place can get a little crazy at times with the in-fighting, but in general, it is a wonderful to place to come to find like-minded people who really care about our country and the direction we are heading/need to go in.

Here is to 4 more years!

And you're right: no matter what the next four years bring, they will certainly be better for having a D in the White House...

16. I don't think Obama tried his best, nor that he did well

He was re-elected, and then he promptly made most of the Bush tax cuts permanent.

Making both 2008 and 2012 pretty hollow victories.

Democrats won and now the Bush tax cuts are permanent, including $600 billion for the top 1%.

He did well?

17. DU was founded when GWB was first elected. Dark days. Now Obama begins his second term.

Things aren't nearly perfect but they are improving. After 911 and the deification of Bush I feared that our country was poised to slip into fascism. DU was a safe harbor for me and many others.

Now the Republican Party is imploding and is being pushed around by the most extreme fringe elements of their party.

DU,collectively as well as individually, has had a hand in our country's improving fortunes,as have a number of other organizations and individuals.

I love this place.

If I hadn't found this sanctuary during the Bush years, I would have exploded, by now. I truly believe I would not be around today, as they had me so frustrated (thus, my name) that I'm sure I would have had a major stroke. It is so nice to know you have others who agree with what you are seeing/hearing and that you aren't losing your mind after all.

Remember the bizarre things that happened during the Bush administrations? We just knew they were lying and pulling tricks behind our backs. Now, it's the Republican Party that's driving us even nuttier and we KNOW they are lying and pulling tricks behind our backs.

And, Cheney is still alive. Unbelievable.

Yeah, it's good to feel like you're not alone. It was good to discover DU and realize that it was good to feel like I wasn't alone! And I was amazed at how many people shared my view. Comfort in a storm. This place was quite literally an oasis for me. A lifeboat. A well-stocked, well-built bomb shelter. It absolutely helped get me through those awful awful awful years!
